Whats up,
Floyd Bennet Field is a good track. They usually run everyother Sunday.
You need a transsponder. You can go there on Saturdays and practice.
You take the belt parkway to Flatbush ave. south. Right before the bridge you will
see the entrance for Floyd Bennet to the left.

Default RE: the OFFICIAL R-40 thread !

hey guys,
Decided to get my car ready for racing. I rebuilt the whole clutch and cant seem to get the engagement correct at all. Right when I would start the car it would be engaged. So I tried to make the engagement later my tightening the cluitch nut but no dice! I went out the other way for the hell of it and it seemed to get better, but im at about one thread showing on the nut. Whats up with this? Is it b/c Im not running the spring around the clutch shoes? I have ran the car for almost 1 mont w/o the spring amnd it worked fine then?
Thanks again,
Don

Use the spring around the clutch weights at all times because without them your clutch won't engage as hard and you will experience loss in acceleration. To keep the spring from popping out put a drop of C.A. glue at the poit where it joins to gether. Also make sure the clutch bell is able to move up and down from the clutch at least .2 to .5 mm. A good setting for the clutch nut is on one side you see 1 thread and on the other you see 2 threads, it's about, .65 mm if you use a digital caliper. Also check the idle of your engine. Also make sure you put in the the washer behind the clutch adjustment sprind or what ever you call that round metal peice that goes inside the clutch shoe.

Remy only likes bridgeport. I'd like to race but don't have my Roar and fanatic $$ in as yet - no paypal account. I also gotta pay the tolls and gas isn't cheap anymore. I may go though...not sure as yet.

Did you tighten the big set screws behind the rear pivot balls, if so loosen them a bit because theres probably something not free in your suspension set up also, when you say full throttle is it under acceleration or at top end.

Does your clutch bell spinn freely if not, make sire the clutch adjusment nut is in so that 1 thread shows and then 2 on the other side, also sheck the idle of your engine you may need to raise it or lower it. When you turn on your car do the wheels automatically begin spinning?

Go ahead and use a sirio 6 or 7, or a novarossi 7, it's sounds like you need an engine tune up for pointers on that go to this website [link=http://www.cefx.net/tips/nitro/tuning/index.php]Josh Cyrul Setup and Tips[/link]

o man....
this is a tough clutch to set up. I have tried tons of adjustments to get it to not engage and the only thing I guess it can be is the clutch spring around the shoes. The idle must be just highenough to engage, so it must need the spring to hold it back untill the higher rpms when throttle is applied.
