It fits the TT-01 as per this thread title

I'm in japan and it cost me a little more than 5800 yen... so it's not cheap... but then again, who ever has a cheap hobby? [8D]

well its obvious that you're gonna have overheating issues. Well gearing to that will overheat and shorten the lifespan of your motor. From what i heard that you can also melt your tam plugs also

Plastics spur gear onto a metal pinion somethings gotta give with alot of power lol
The tam plugs are good down to about a 15T anything lower and its just a matter of time before they melt, deans will allow more current through to the ESC as well

Mine melted on my first dry run (no rain).

I don't think I'll be getting that gearing... But if I were to buy another motor I'd buy an 16T motor at most. 12 is just too powerful for the car I think.

Even with most all the aftermarket parts the TT-01 won't be able to properly handle more than a 15T motor. Will it work? Sure, but it isn't going to be optimal and will more likely than not just waste your money experience wise.

Then again it seems like every new person on this board has an obsession with speed and going as fast as they can in a straight line so maybe a sub 15T motor that will rip the car to shreds and just be able to go in a straight line will work fine for some.

I would rather be able to control the car, if you put a 10T motor in a TT-01 you will lose all control as far as handling goes. You will more likely than not also cause damage to the internals depending on the parts, how the diff is setup, etc.

And yes eventually the bullet plugs on the motor will melt, usually they end up soldering themselves together and you cant remove them anymore. The Tamiya battery plugs will be fine for any application that the car is made for, you lose some juice from design but not enough to make a difference. Changing the bullets to deans is required imo, the battery pack plug can remain with little to no effect on the performance.

Very true m8 ^

In my experience while using a Bl system equal to a 10t motor the chassis can not handle that turn of speed, tamiya never intended it too in the first place, remember this is an entry level chassis for beginners to get into RC tc it wasnt built to win races its built strong so it can be used as a parking lot racer built to take abuse look at the gear boxes there built to last forever lol
people seem to buy them because everyone recommends them as there a great cheap drift car and solid carpark basher NOT for full on power.
For the money they are to buy personally you cant go wrong great drifters and alot of fun for running around carparks or gravel.
Tamiya has always built great cars in every section of rc from entry level to ther top end racers.
Ive also noticed the amount of people who since BL became popular who believe there built for speed well there not anything over 35mph and they ride like a rubber brick and those you dont admit that are lieing to themselfs and others who are reading reviews to buy one.
I bought mine well over a year ago and am very pleased with what i purchased as a carpark runner and later for drift use.
I think tamiya caught on to the ideal of releaseing certain models like the R and D versions mainly due to the big sales of this chassis which is something they should be a proud of a great ENTRY level kit.
I believe the 3r CF chassis was brought out due to the drifting scene as we love our bling and hop ups not for racing use, even with every hop up out there it still isnt never gonna be a racing king and most of us know that already

Im sure tamiya will bring out another form of the TT series in the future and hopefully improve the adjustability on this chassis
But bang for buck or pound for pound its still a great entry level kit and has brought alot of new people into RC these last couple of years.
so everyone who owns one should be proud they own apiece of RC history [8D]

The tt-01 understeers like none other at speeds of +35-40mph. My tt-01 was made to primarily to mess around and powersliding to show off it someones watching.

i have HPI x-pattern tires on my car and they are probably the best for street/parking lot bashing. My car handles fairly well but i have ot use a lot of throttle control to make sure it doesn't oversteer because the mamba brushless will snap the tail with ease. For a normal or beginner driving that has a craving for need for speed yeah.. this chassis is not what you want..
