4000 mah is great, although certain brands (Intellect, GP) are a class above, Tamiya parts are easy to get hold of, visit: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/cars.asp

If the car doesn't look or feel that fast upgrade the batteries as said, and upgrade your esc and motor...maybe a 15 turn? unless you are planning to race in a 27turn stock class

I've just bought a pair of 4000 mah batteries and i heard that changing to deans connectors improve performance so i got some of those coming my way. The only racing i do though is on my driveway!

dont matter what type of racing it is, with the larger amps from the bigger batteries, the small wires and connectors just cant handle the flow so they ll build up heat. you ll always do well with deans plugs.

i think most of these have 14 or 16 gauge wire. wiht is typically ok, but when your getting into the 4000MAH or multi Lipos, then you ll want 12 gauge multi-stranded wire to handle the extra amprage without getting overly warm. smaller wire means more resistance. more resistance means more heat. thusly bigger wire less heat.

Has anyone had the problem where the rear gears dont mesh together all that well and make that nasty sound like the pinion and spur are grinding? In my case the pinion and spur are just fine and it seems like the rear diff isn't getting a good enough contact and it's slipping. I've tried everything. Meaning i've read that book and re-installed everything accordingly. Went and bought new gears and the whole nine. What i'm trying now is a new chassis. I think that my brushless set up made some of the groves in the rear wear down. To the point where nothing sits right anymore. I hope that this works. If thats not it, then i'm going to go crazy hahahahaha

I actually had a similiar problem. The spur gear assembly that sits under the plastic housing was loose or something because after a couple batteries this weekend, I noticed a burning plastic smell so I took it apart only to find that the shaft had melted the chassis. It's hard to explain but I'll try and take a picture of the damage so you guys can give me your opinion on how to prevent this in the future.

I have a new tub chassis and ball bearing set coming. My thinking is the plastic washers melted and that's why the shaft was able to make contact with the chassis.

Just a few questions. I got my deans plugs now but what would be the best way to connect them and how/which way should they go? Also got my 4000mah batteries. Do i slice the tamiya plugs off? My charger, that need the chop too doesn't it...

One last thing, i was experimenting with my TT-01 and i removed the drive shaft to see if it would run on 2wd... It did and it sounded insanely fast without even pushing it to full throttle. Does anyone know if this is a wise idea or would it crunch up the gears because all the power is to the rear?

Cheers.

I don't know why it would "cruntch" the gears. It doesn't have a center diff or anything. Also it should be about the same speed, maybe a little bit faster.

Deans plugs can only plug into eachother one way. Look on the back of the package for details and info on soldering them. Yes, cut the old tamiya plugs off of your battery BUT DONT CUT THE RED AND BLACK AT THE SAME TIME!!!! Cut them one by one!!! do not ever let the red and black wires touch eachother!!!! Always use a female deans on the battery!

There is no harm in running the tt-01 in 2wd.

I'm just saying, would the rear gearbox be ok taking the full load of the motor alone?

Thanks. No doubt i'll burn a couple of holes around while soldering! My only hope is that i don't burn the house down with my cheapo gas solder...
