Default bad esc?

just bought a new esc for son. it has less than 20min runtime.
it barely runs. its very sporatic (spelling?)
it starts a sec then stops then starts, then stops. then runs at like 1/10th speed then stops

the motor is good. ive pulled it out and put it in my car.
is this a sign of just a bad esc and i should return it? or is there a different angle i should look at this?
thanks!
c

Check your Batts and wire connections.. if that don't work.. test the ESC in your ride..

Default RE: bad esc?

so i decided that i was going to just give my tl-01 to my son and get a new one at a later time.
but i wanted to keep my motor and esc for my future car.
so while swapping his stuff out to the new car, i realized that his esc actually works fine...
the motor is the problem...

so here is my new 'dilemma'
this motor and esc was in an old ta-02
the motor does not work at all now. and it was brand new!!! having less than 2 hours on it.
is it possible that the bad gearing and whatnot in an old car could burn out a motor?
it doesnt smell bad but i cant get the thing to work in any of my cars

Try Direct power, BUT be carefull

Connect the positive and Negative terminals on your Battery direct to the motor... Just be careful...

If the motor spins then, the problem is else where.. may be carbon build up on the brushes..
