Default Tamiya Onroad Collection Thread

Here is a place we can all share our Tamiya on road cars, whether it be older models, or brand new cutting edge onroad tech.

So post up pics, racing stories, collections, ask questions which chassis is right for you and we will all help. I will be updating the thread with my own collection, I am jumping the gun here, but I plan on collectng one of every onroad chassis code (TT-01, TB-01,2,3; TA-1-5... etc etc)

This can be a greta resource for new fans to help pic out what Tamiya chassis is right for them. This can include drifters, racers and bashers. Speaking of bashers, please keep all negative comments to yourself and let's help eachother out and learn something!

I have a strong preference of TB-02 over TT-01 simply due to the low price that the TB-02 are trading at nowadays..

I agree, for less than a TT-01 you can get a TB-02 right now, the TB-02 is a much better/refined design. In fact, anyone who is looking to get into onroad, I'd have to recommend the TB-02 hands down, can be raced competitively at a club level, awesome drifter (LB has a slick drifting setup with brushless), and bashed around in the parking lot/street (shaft drive so less maintenance and wear compared to a belt drive.

does your collection include the FF-01/FF-02? the FF series have been going donkeys years as well, and feature some classic bodies, the VW Golf VR6, BTCC Volvo, etc...

FF's come after all the T's if you will. After the TA's and TB's I'll go for the FF's definitely.

I'll have to compose a list of you threads lee and LB has an onroad thread too I'll add to this thread.

TA-03R will be on the way within 2 weeks!

I've only gotten 3 on road Tamiyas,

M04L with BMW body
TT01 w/ Carerra body
TB02 w/ GT-R R34 body

If I get another on road it will be the TA-04 or 05 but I've gotten into the buggies again and have 2 DB-01's and am looking for a nice used 501X.

What about the F101/F102/F103? And also the old expensive chassis as found on the Renault 5/Gold MK.1 etc?

I'll post some pictures of mine then.

My first Tamiya, a TA-05 IFS, running mamba speedo, Orion Vortex 5.5 motor, DTX 3800 battery packs, and a Futaba S3305 servo:

The inspiration: I painted my '05 to look like my Evader.

Matt,

I plan on getting a few F103's for sure, have to have some of those!

Now I have to find out if I want the mobile NSX, or Raybring NSX TA-03R.... choices choices.

I think TB-01 is to follow, although Lee linked me to a killer TA-02 that is hard to pass up since I am a Mustang fan!

I am leaning towards the Mobile NSX, it's like 30 bucks cheaper than the other NSX lol

I'll let you guys know when I order it and do a build thread, I am pretty excited to build up one of these!

The price is not yet where it should be for the TB-03. Right now I would prefer a TB-01!

Lets see first tamiya (probrably) was an F-1 car then an indy (penzoil) and after that i was out of R/C and about 2 years ago i got the M03 Alpha Romea Gulia Sprint (good car) then i bet the $h!t out of it for awhile then i saw a tl-01 rally car and a ff02 alfa (like the one someone recently purchased new) that was "raced" with bushings and stock motor and stock shocks, and now on ebay i found and have in my possession another tl-01 from hawaii that has some hop ups like one way diff, carbon shafts (gear and drive line) trv? shocks (that where way to high) aluminum motor mount that was missing the plug, and a tamiya speed motor (silver and blue), oh and high speed gears.

I love my TB-03 and the price is not too heavy if you look around , you will find some at good price . So much better than a tb-02

My TB-01 was just the chassis..(only paid 10 bucks for it) not the full kit but I can tell my daughter will love running it. I am looking to get either the tb-02 later this year or if the price comes down the tb-03.
