Default What interface should I buy?

I have a Dell laptop running windows 2000, an old 6 channel JR remote(no batteries and maybe no crystal), and FMS freeware. Unfortunately, I have no interface cable. What do I need, and where can I get it. A buddy of mine let me borrow an interface that plugged into one of my serial ports, but it did nothing. Is there a USB cable or something else I need?

www.rc-electronics.co.uk USB-JSIM - pricey but is just so SIMPLE to use - works straight off with WIN 2K and just plugs into USB
