Someone once told me that if you increase the wind to a very high amount in FMS that it simulates heli flying - since I am new to heli flying can anyone verify this or at least point me in the right direction as to a flight sim that would help?

I just installed G2and all three add-ons tonight
I have flown about 4 of the helis
And I tell ya it feels real.
I'm new to helis . so I'm just hovering around.
G2 is cool though
you just need one mean Computin machine

Yeah I've heard G2 takes alot of memory to run - I have also heard alot of mixed reviews - I'm kind of stnd offish about spending the money for it???

If you got the computor it works great
I just built me this one.
Its a 1.1 gigAMD Duron with 256 Meg of mem.
the Geforce2 titanium 64 Meg Video card
I set resolution up to max and I don't even get a little clitch.
If you are runnin XP you will need to download the patch though.
that what I'm runnin.
Anywho
I hear its the best one out there.

How are the textures on G2 - the FMS looks little fake - it the G2 more realistic??

Well I wouldn't say they look real.
Have you ever seen the movie ToyStory?
To me it looks like that kind of animation.
Very good
Trees look like trees. Not Green block on top of a Brown rectangle.
If you look at the Pictures on the Realflight.com sight you can see what I'm talkin about.
With a good Computor they are Very smooth too.
I was amazed at how smooth
The hardest part of flyin on a sim is that you have no perifial vision. So for me at this point landings are tricky till you get closer to the ground.
I'm still working on my Depth perseption on the putor too.
I tend to hit the runway a little short.
Two planes I really like on there are the Cap232 and the Twinstar. and the A10 wharthog is cool too.
I think its a good program. As close as you can get to flyin with out the perifial vision.

about the cost of a good Crash from what I understand.
Only on the sim
you crash and it justs resets you .

But I estimate around a dozen or so Helis
And maybe 20 or 30 Planes
Plus you can make your own planes and helis.
Check out Realflight.com and look under the download section
Alot of people are Modding some of the planes and puting them on the net to download
I already took the Cap 232 and put a HUGE motor on it
Really cool to go 10 Feet then yank it strait up.
HAHAH
WHat a hoot
Oh and you can really tell it's too much motor cause it's real Nose heavy now.

Not only did G2 help teach me to fly fixed wing,
it also taught me to fly helis. A year ago I
swore I would never fly RC helis. A few months of
pratice(off and on)with G2 and I'm now flying
a brand new Venture 30. The simulator is very
realistic,especially if you add some wind. I'm
flying 3D on the simulator, and the inputs re-
quired are the same as real life. Although I'm
not quite ready for 3D with my Venture, I'll
have confidence, when the time comes.
