Which simulator ?
 

Let's hear your opinions.
I'll be getting a new simulator in the spring.
This could be an informative way to help others decide.

Please let me know if I leave one out.

I would consider your computers abilities in considering a new sim. You don't want one that can't run smoothly. I have used that when I gave a sim as a gift. If you have a tricked out gaming computer, then consider the support offered ( updates, new planes and scenary). I have trained people to fly on a sim, then put them into a .40 sized trainer with just a few flghts and very little knee knocking. I wish I would have had that as an option. Good Luck!

I have Reflex XTR- have had it for about 6 or 7 years now- and it's great. I haven't checkedthe others lately, but one of the best things about Reflex is that it gives you the ability to adjust the parameters of models, and rename existing ones to your own parameters. This gives you the ability to make your planes snap, lomcevak, and do everything just like the real model. Parameters are thing like weight, power, aileron effectiveness, rudder throw/ effectiveness, cg location. and more. I have a 28% scale Christen eagle, and am very familiar with just how much up, rudder, power, etc is required to make it snap roll, lomcevak, takeoff and land. I was able to adjust one of the Pitts models, renamed to my own name, to fly just about identically. Reflex uses a very good mathematical model for the airplane. It also includes several helicopters.

I down loaded the clear view trial and used up my sample time. For the 39.00 do I get just a couple of planes to fly or what? It really does't explain enough for me to go ahead and buy it. If I would get a few planes I would be happy and do it.

Last time I looked, you could download many many upgrades, new scenery and many new planes. The one thing you should know is that you have to download and upgrade them more of less in order- you cna't install very recent scenery if you also haven't downloaded the recent simulator 'engine' (main program) upgrade.
By the way: I paid about $175 for it, so if you can get it for $39, I'd say take it- that's a great deal.
I need to check for upgrades and get my version current, too, this discussion reminds me...

The better full version is 99.00. I take it bare bones is 39.00

Actually let me clarify that- you need to install all the upgrades in order- starting with the early ones first, install thse, and then the newer ones. This applies to me more than to you, however, since you will be installing the current version, not a version from 2004, as I have. My recollection of them is that once you buy the progrqam, and 'you're in' they are very easy about letting you upgrade and letting you add newer models, flying fields etc.
