Wright Flyer for FMS
I found this link posted at RCGroups.
http://cliff.lawson.net/bin/wrightv1.zip Really great looking plane. A little overpowered, I suspect, compared to the real Flyer, but fun to fly and watch fly. Enjoy. Regards, Mike Ledbetter |
RE: Wright Flyer for FMS
Mike,
Glad someone enjoyed my plane - it's almost as much fun using Metasequoia to build virtual planes for FMS as it is building the reals models out of stick and tissue!! You might also like to try my (rather crude!) Vickers Vimy at http://cliff.lawson.net/bin/vimyv1.zip too. These are a couple of my "heroes of aviation". Wright Flyer for the obvious reason and the Vimy as it was what Alcock and Brown first flew across the Atlantic. Cliff Lawson (You may gather from my login ID both here and at rcgroups that I'm a bit of a "Wright Flyer" nut!) |
RE: Wright Flyer for FMS
I have built several planes on Metasequoia. I enjoy doing that more than flying the simulator. Next, I want to set up the scenery using digital photographs of our field.

RE: Wright Flyer
Cliff,
What a treat to hear from the model's creator. Thanks for the Flyer model; I built the Revell kit recently and I am torn between the Great Planes plastic or the Arizona Models wooden RC versions. Leaning toward wood, but a kit build? this close to December 17?? Regards, Mike Ledbetter |

Mike,
Well I've built the small WF from Easy Built Models that's designed for free flight but I just have it as a static desk model, cutting 72 ribs out of 1/32" balsa sheet was a nightmare but they now do a laser cut version. I've also built the flyable model from Dare that was designed by Pat Trittle. It'll run on a couple of GWS IPS-DXA's. So far I've just constructed the model but haven't fitted motors or even added the rigging wires. I must get a move on for December 17th!! (except I'm going to be on a beach in the Maldives on that day - but I might take a kite!). The Dare model is nice and being laser cut it goes together very easily. I covered mine in antique-cream coloured Litespan. Cliff |

That's a beauty. Post a pic when you get it rigged. I rigged my Revelle kit with a needle and thread and a pair of tweezers. I will look into the Dare model.
