FMS Cable - Question
Greetings,
I have FMS on Win98SE. I have a Tower Hobbies System3000 6 Channel transmitter. I have a training cable (bought from tower hobbies). I have visited Eric Brouwer's website (myweb.absa.co.za/eric.brouwer) and fabricated the circuit to connect to my computer's serial port. So, buddy cord connected to my radio, other end connected to the circuit which is connected to my computer's serial port. When I fire things up, do I need to do anything special to the radio ? extend the antenna ? Pull the crystal ? I guess I must have power on to the radio to have it send the signals to the computer ? Thanks for any help. Also, is there an LT40 model for FMS ? |
RE: FMS Cable - Question
Nobody knows the answer to this simple question ?

RE: FMS Cable - Question
It is best to remove the crystal to prevent damage to the rf unit, yes the radio does need to be on and the aerial down (it does nothing).

RE: FMS Cable - Question
I removed the crystal from my Futaba 9C to prevent damage, and as a side result I noticed that it holds the battery charge much much longer. One could always setup a DC adapter with a wall wart for the transmitter, but I usually don't fly long enough to drain the unit and it is easy enough to just recharge it between sessions.
