RE: help with beeping AFP

What kind of beeping sound? Is it in some kinda of sequence? Does it sound like the little PC speaker inside or is it coming through the main speakers? Do you have any high end games you play on it that work ok? What kind of sound card do you have? What operating system? Any other system info might be helpful. I'll check this post once in a while over the next few days but I'm on vacation so it might seem a little slow with me getting back to you.

Do you have any other programs running? You can also disable sounds in Windows (like when you delete something it beeps etc).

Make sure you go to the IkarusUSA site and download the latest version. It's cleared up problems for two different people I know of.

Don't disconnect it. Just right click on my computer, hit properties, go to hardware => Device Manager => internal speaker and disable it electronically.

It's hard to diagnose sound problems. Yes disconnecting the speaker will work with no side effects to the puter but I would look for a better fix. Have you tried emailing tech support? That would be another place to start. I would also try muting your mic and other non-needed items in your sound properties. Perhaps one of them is introducing the beeping. I find that unlikely as they shouldn't be outputting sound to the pc speaker though. Is it possible that your computer is overheating and that it is an alarm signal you are hearing? The pc speaker is usually for the bios to output sound to. Not many other programs use it.

Yes make sure you are not overheating your computer.

I have to blow out my computer at least once a month to keep heat down.

Also, if you are using your transmitter for controller, take out the cyrstal, to stop transmitting. Your battery will last 100 times longer as well.

The frist step is always check your drivers. Graphics, audio, motherboard.
Updates may be whats in order.
I bet its a error message poping up in the backround until you run out of memory and crash.

Is there a game patch you dont have?

Is the graphics processor on the mother board or is it a seperate card?

I know a place to get a great deal on a top notch system if needed.:)

As for the overheating. If you dont have a case fan then buy 1 and figure out a way to mount it. Most cases can have 2 or more but are never installed. I have 4 case fans alone. 2 in, 2 out. AMD xp processors like to run HOT. You should have at least one 3-4pin connector available to plug a fan into.

Also, check your gaming driver in; control panel, gaming options.
Make sure you have the right driver, and calibrate it. Its possible that one of the switches are causing to do that, like when you hold down a key on the keyboard to long.

RE: help with beeping AFP

when the game is playing, hit the windows key on the keyboard, this will minimise the game and show you the desktop, this will allow you too see if the beeping is an error message poping up on the desktop but not the sim. doing this means the game is still running but not in view. if this stops the beeping and there is no error message from windows then i would go into the sounds menu in control panel and change the windows error sound from a beep to another noise in the menu, then try the sim again. if the beep has changed to the sound you picked in the control panel then you know the fault is an error at least.

it is a process of elimination. try that and post back here with the results.

also how much ram do you have and how many are there, eg, if you have 512mb is there 2 256mb chips to get this number or a single 512mb?

cheers

I have excatly the same problem as you but when l'm playing cricket 2004. I think it is the fact that the computer is overheatting but l think maybe if u put your pc in a open space then it will be able to run better if the dosn't work maybe take off the cover. If that dosn't work buy a new cpu fan what do u guys think would this be some good techniques to use?
