Warning to Ebay shoppers of simulators!

Just to let everyone know that we have been getting many calls for add-on cables/transmitters for people that have bought simulators online that only came with the CD's. There is no way that you can run a simulator without original cables/tranmitters included for AFP, G2 and Reflex. Do not buy these CD's unless they come with the original hardware and cables included. None of these will work without them. There is no way to just add the cable or transmitter because it will not work. The cables/transmitters that come with these simulators are proprietary and can only be purchased with the simulators.

Just an FYI.

My serial Realflight transmitter works with AFP perfectly fine.

RE: Warning to Ebay shoppers of simulators!

I understand the your G2 works with your AFP but you must still have the AFP plug installed to the serial port correct?

Some people are selling copies of simulators without any hardware or cables whatsoever.

Perhaps he/she is using a dongle crack.
From what I have read It seems all of the sims are cracked except reflex xtr
But then its german and the germans normally build things properly :-)

More likely the hackers have not yet got to doing it. :)

but do not take it that I endorse cracked software.

AFP also is a german product and the copy protection is pretty good. I have a "special subject link" on eBay issues on my website so if a customer isn't sure about the product offered at eBay, he can contact me and I find out for him. In most cases, I stop the funny offers (Reflex original carton with CD but WITHOUT interface) as this is a violation of my copyright and EULA. Maybe you could do the same on your side, Dion? I know, the second hand buyers generate activity but no profit on our side but on the other hand, the complains afterwards also generate trouble as we are the people bringing the bad news (... that they just spend money on something that won't work).

Cheers - wolfgang

They are talking about AeroFlight Pro, not Reflex. But, since we are on the subject, when you get it working, I would very much like to hear what you think of XTR. I'm in the market to replace G2.

I have to ask. are any of these products better than FMS? That is the only sim i've used, and it seems great. then again, i have nothing to compare it to. i know that before spending some time on it, i couldn't get my (previously considered worthless) feda hummingbird to take off w/o flying into something.

are these products worth it?

RE: Warning to Ebay shoppers of simulators!

They are ALL better then FMS...I cant speak for G2 or Reflex but AFP is AWESOME!! FMS is good to get started but for real 3d or aerobatic practice its not very realistic..

Hackers are people who have fun messing with computers. Crackers are people who crack into peoples computers and destroy or alter their settings. Anything can be cracked into, some are just smarter then others when it comes to protection.

I have had a chance to use AeroFly Pro and G2 and FMS. Aerofly professional is definately the best, with g2 being nice for just making cool aircraft, and FMS if you dont have any money:D

"If you give a man a fish, he'll fish for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he'll fish for a lifetime!"--Dan Quayle
I don't know if you are a fan of Dan Quayle or not, but the above quote is an ancient chinese proverb, not Dan Quayle's

Furthermore, the original proverb is:

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."

i am aware of the chinese proverb. Dan Quayle (being who he is), tried to recite it once, and totally messed it all up! :D that is the reason i have quoted him.

P.S. I am not a fan of him

Let's not turn this thread into a political discussion.

Actually, I think the Chinese proverb goes more like...

Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish, and he'll never go hungry.

Or perhaps....

Give a newbie a plane, and he'll crash it instantly, but teach a newbie to fly, and he'll never be bored. ;-)

Did you get the interface cable with AFP? You need that to run the software.

Ok my Question here is i have barrowed Real flight G2 from a coworker and it is asking me for the serial # and the # on the controller but I do not have the controller and from what I was reading here you guys say that this disk will not work with out the controller that came with the disk? if that is the case how come we sell just the interlink controllers that would make the controllers themselves usless and great planes is trying to rip people off then with the sales of just the interlink controllers. we cary all 3 the G2, G2 lite both with the controller and just the controller alone.
Ok my last question does anyone know if the Interface cable that comes with the nextstar work with the G2 and the futaba 9C Heli radio system has anyone tried this yet I see there is someone who has posted that they have both the nextstar the 9C and the G2 and have you tried to just use your 9C with the interface on the G2 version? Thanx :D

If you borrowed RealFlight from a friend (i.e. he is not still using it) then you should have the serial # on the outside of the CD case AND you should also have the controller. Just ask your friend to borrow the controller ;)

RE: Warning to Ebay shoppers of simulators!

I noticed that simblaster (simblaster.com) sells a usb type interface for about $60 for the futaba 9c that works with about eight flight simulator programs and one of the programs is real flight g2. The only real flight portion of the program it does not work with is the intenet link which I guess is the one where you fly with other people on the internet. I too have seen controllers and usb interfaces sold separately by companies which makes me wonder about some of these post about needing to have that exact controller to operate that specific simulator software. I am going to check with a friend of mine also to try to use his rf-g2 with a different usb interface. I will see what I can find out about these serial numbers. It might be another one of those security things if you know what I mean..
Frank
ps: I have seen where Aerofly pro needs it's own interface due to a special chip in that interface but I am not sure if the interface is usb or gameport. I am looking only for usb type interfaces because I hear they work best.

RE: Warning to Ebay shoppers of simulators!

I have both G2 and AFP. I was told that I can use the G2 interface (their Interlink USB interface) which I have managed to get to work, however, it seems that AFP will not recognize the G2 interface unless the other cable (the adapter that came with the software) is plugged into the computer. I have to use an USB to SERIAL adapter which requires software drivers and so on. Then, when I try to make it work, everything seems reversed or on the wrong channels. When going to the configuration menu, I can change the channel assignments and reverse things but the "progress bars" that show throttle, for instance, do not work. Am I doing something wrong or is this normal? If I am doing something wrong, please let me know because I want to make this work on my notebook as well as my desktop.

Thanks.
