Man, I have held off getting a sim for a few months now, just wanting to try something different than the Realflight. Upon reading alot of the posts I have decided to go with the AFP. I hope to give it good reviews because I have hight expectatins. I have flown G2 and even though I liked it, it was "gamish". I should be a great tool for flying if it does what it says it will. I just wish anyone would MAKE A SIM FOR THE APPLE G4-G5. The PC I have purchased JUST TO RUN A SIM looks goofy next to my MAC!!! Wish me luck.

If you are talking about the PIC USB controller for FMS then yes, you can. I assume that's what you mean.

Unfortunately I was talking about a real flight USB type controller. If not I will add a sound card with a game port.

Yes, you can use the G2 controller! Confirmed many times now.

However if you want to use the Commander version from AFP you just need a USB to Joystick dongle which is $15 at Radio Shack. Much easier less expensive then adding a sound card.

I sent a money order a week ago today priority. It should have been there monday. I was just wondering how they send it on the free shipping to know if I need to be home to receive it.
I am getting a bit confused by this post as to the controller hookup. How does this plug into my computer? All I have is USB ports but I do have FMS and their adapter to connect my radio to it. Does this come with an adapter and what kind. I was under the impression it came with what I need to hook it up.

It will send via Fed Ex Ground from us. You have to be there to sign for it, otherwise they will leave a slip to sign and deliver it next day.

You need a serial port to hook up the controller. If you don't have a serial port then you need to get a USB to serial cable, which are about $10 on Ebay.

Radio Shack makes a serial to usb adaptor cord (catalog number 26-183).

Even though I am going to be using the RealFlight usb controller, I will have to hook up the adapter cord for copy protection issues, right? Also, is a gameport on a soundcard considered a serial port?

Can someone thats never flown learn to fly with this AFP sim. My son is 7 years old and I want to get him started in the hobby.

Absolutely. I started with ZERO flying experience and purchased G2. If it wasn't for my jitters, I could've went directly to the field after "mastering" g2. I would say a simulator is essential, especially for new pilots. You'll save much more money in crash repairs than the cost of the simulator.

ace-my son started on a sim at 7 yrs. old. Within 1 yr. he was able to fly a real profile hots without crashing. I took off and landed for him. He can land and do almost everything with a sim. When we go to fly he gets real nervous, but when I push him to fly he can. Maybe I shouldn't make him fly if he doesn't want to?

Just let him play on it at will. Next thing you know he will be doing everything imaginable without any help from you.

BTW ace, that Kyosho Cap is a blast isn't it! I have a .91 4s in mine, and it will 3D like a madman.

Yes, I love that cap I only put a 52 Fs in it but wish I had gone bigger. still alot of fun though.

Actually, I wish I had went with something smaller, maybe a .72 to reduce some weight. But, mine bit the dust during a flat spin gone wrong ;) If only I had AFP to learn on!

Practice spins with the Corsair on AFP. It's the only plane that you actually have to work to get out of a spin.

The true way to get out of a spin it to push the plane down ... not pull back.

The Corsair in this sim is not one of those planes that's easy to recover from a spin unless you use the correct inputs and have the altitude to spare. I like it, it's harder to recover than my CAP which recovers from a spin on command.

Out of idle curiosity, does the real model Corsair behave as this sim of it does?

That is almost an understatement. I've seen more Corsairs go in at the field then any other plane. 90% I've seen were some kind of wing stall/spin. Corsairs are VERY well known for this. Everytime I see a Corsair go up I know it's got about a 50% chance of making it back down in 1 piece. Yes, the Corsair does behave exactly like the sim. Just use rudder to stop the spin in the opposite direction.
