G2/XP/Laptop?
My wifes boss dropped off the latest version of G2. He wants me to load it on his HP laptop running XP. Didn't have time to mess with it yet. Anyone done anything like this? Is it possible on a laptop? Thanks_bob

G2/XP/Laptop?
Hi Bob,
I am running it on my Sony laptop with XP and it works ok. I have an ATI 16 meg video card in it. I have to turn off some of the background items to get good speed but not much. Be sure when you install it on XP to install it but don't run the program. Install in and run the control panel to get the latest update on line first. Started up and ran just fine on my machine. |

Get the update first. What's all the ruckus about a new style or type of controller or hookup? Thanks_bob

G2/XP/Laptop?
There were two types of hookups previously. One was the supplied controller that used a game port. Not many computers supply a game port, especially laptops, anymore and have USB ports. The other interface was the link from your radio to the parallel port.
They now have an interface with the supplied controller which contains the link to your own radio all in one. It connects to the computer with a USB port which all computers now have. |
G2/XP/Laptop?
I'm running G2 on my Gateway (Moo!) Laptop. Win XP Home, 1.06 Gig Mhz, 382 Meg Ram, Direct X 8.1, NVIDIA GeForce2 Go with 32 meg on video.
I use the old serial interface. Everything works great and I can have everything turned on. You need video card horsepower more than anything. |
Heartbreak Hotel
Turns out the CD rom drive on the HP wasn't working. He now gave me a Dell that I haven't looked at yet. What do you think the minimum video card stats should be, and would I look in the system applet for that info? Thanks_bob

Thanks_bob Get a card similar to the GeForce2 Go and everything should be fine: http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?PAGE=geforce2go |
