burrito for AFP request :)
hey guys,
I was wondering if one of us pro bros ..(im sure theres some computer nerd out there) could build a Burrito for AFP.. one that would behave like it and look like it too... i have no idea how to do that..does anyone? -Felix |
RE: burrito for AFP request :)
Hmmm.........I wonder since it seems that the "Big Profile Mfg" hosts the website I dont know if they'd even allow it. But I for one would really love to a Burrito designed for AFP!

RE: burrito for AFP request :)
that would be really cool!!! I wish I knew how to do it!

RE: burrito for AFP request :)
Why wouldn't we host it?
All we need is the outline CAD of the Burrito. The problem is that the smaller 40 size planes require a more advanced developer to produce the model. We've tried to get our smaller planes to work and it did not work out too well. However we can give it a try if Swany wants to do it. Apparenty there are seperate physics engines for different size models. Seem like the one in the middle are the easiest to develop for. |

If so, I'll have a go at creating a Burrito when it arrives. |
RE: burrito for AFP request :)
nice..
i dont know if it comes with it since mine should be getting here in a few days but check out this website rc-sim.com it should have the tools you need. -Felix |
RE: burrito for AFP request :)
If you are good with AutoCad it should not be a problem.
HOWEVER! If you have the outline wireframe of the Burrito it will work much better. That is why all the OMP planes fly so good on AFP. The moments come directly from our actual aircraft. Most of the other airplanes are just eyeballed and 3 views. Talk to Swany about getting the wireframe. Heck if he asks me to do it ... I'll get in touch with the guy who did our planes and ask him if he'll do it. |
RE: burrito for AFP request :)
Dion, Ive never used AFP, but what format are the models in? Could you build the models in 3D Studio Max? My Room mate has a degree in Game Art. He uses 3D Studio to build levels and stuff in Unreal 2004 and Doom III

Compliments of Geoff Haydt from AFP forums:
The cads or aircraft outlines are only needed if you want to create an exact outline of an existing aircraft and are not needed at all for AFP. First off rodeo has done a great workshop explaining the workings of the plane and how all the files are created and structured for AFP and what is required. they can be loaded into MetasequoiaLE and traced. Here is a link to his .pdf instructions, there were also html form but I cant seem to find the link. http://www.rodeo.rc-sim.de/New_aircr...erofly_pro.htm MetasequoiaLE R2.1a is the most common and easyiest freeware 3D modeling program used for AFP and works great. Itis available here (select the bottom of the 3 download links) http://www21.ocn.ne.jp/~mizno/main_e.html Here is a good workshop explaing the workings of MetasequoiaLE, the page deals with FMS sim but the creation is much the same to AFP except AFP can handle alot more detail, points and faces. http://rcp.web.infoseek.co.jp/Rc_hp2...asequoia_e.htm Once you create the model you will need a converter to change from .suf to .onj for the sim. This is availaible by emailing IPACS at and asking for it. [email protected] Here is a link to a .pdf by rodeo explaing how to use the converter. http://www.rodeo.rc-sim.de/Ipacs_converter_e.htm The most important part of making a plane for AFP is to be patient, new aircraft will always have glitches and many troubles will rise during the construction but start simple and you should be able to work out the bugs and get the hang of the kind of problems you will encounter. |
RE: burrito for AFP request :)
alright who will step up to the plate..
I cant wait to see if it will be a realistic burrito. haha cant wait.. -Felix |
RE: burrito for AFP request :)
Ill Talk to my roommate. He loves doing that stuff. The only problem is that we cant test the model. He can only create it. He may want to get a copy of the program first...
|
RE: burrito for AFP request :)
rc havoc what did your roomate say ?
it would be so sick to get it to work. -Felix |
RE: burrito for AFP request :)
He would have to have the program to run it first. He would love to do it, but he dosnt want to guess it and thow it out there to somone. Im going to get the sim soon anyway. Ill let you know when I do...

RE: burrito for AFP request :)
Well I did the 3d frame works its not to the moments of the actual Burrito but it looks like one But theres no way I can take it any further im lost and the tutorials are a bit over my head! anybody wanna pick up the ball and run with it?

RE: burrito for AFP request :)
Stano just letting you know that anything under 60" on AFP just does not fly true. I have my ideas of why this is, however either way the plane more then likely won't fly right or like the Burrito flies. It will look good and will fly, but it will be way off.
Now if you want to scale it up over 60" you'll have a better flying plane. You know we have several planes for OMP on AFP. Now if you want to fly our .40 sized Edge. Just take the 80" version and speed up the simulator by about 10-15%. Zoom out a little, you now have an OMP .40 plane. Also you want to ask Paul to get you the outline of the Burrito on CAD. The outlines are no secret so he should not have a problem with it. Our planes, like I said above, fly so well on AFP because the models come right from Mike's CADS. Just the slightest difference in eyeball moments to CAD moments can make the plane have totally different flight characteristics. You can tell on some of these downloads that some people have used scaled wire frames either shelf bought or from the manufacturer. You can also easily tell who eyeballed and 3 viewed to get their outlines. D |

Well mine was created completley in the Recomended software So ya its eyballed. But theres really no chance of me taking it to a flying model by myself

RE: burrito for AFP request :)
I see you found the thread stan.....maybe it will get you some help. Now if you can just get the screen shot thingie down.:D

RE: burrito for AFP request :)
Hey STP you don't happen to have any of the actually models before they got converted to OBJ files do ya? I need one to look at for reference to see how they set up servos and the moving stuff also I need that converter from IPAC I have emailed them several times with no response... Thanks in advance

RE: burrito for AFP request :)
Now if you can just get the screen shot thingie down Glad he's doing the plane... I can't even get one to skin right [8D] |
RE: burrito for AFP request :)
how about if u do make one, make it so it has that really cool US falg colour scheme? is that on the burrito? im no good with profiles so i may be geting mixed up with planes
also, how about an extremeflight RC Yak54:D |

Well fellas I got the Burrito up and running with some much needed help from a nice fella with Ipacs the same who did or helped with OMP's AFP models I need someone to host it for download be nice to get it on the AFP download page I really like the way it flys it flys really close to the Burrito and is the same scale in the sim as in real life except it has a 48 inch wing span in the sim so heres a few shots enjoy!!

RE: burrito for AFP request :)
Due to the EULA of AFP download site, I need a letter/persmission from Swany asking to post the Burrito on the AFP download site since he is the owner of the original model design.
There are instructions on how to submit a plane at aeroflypro.com/download forum. |
RE: burrito for AFP request :)
Hi
that burrito looks awesome, can you send it to me please? [email protected] thanks! rc buster, were did you get that Yak skin? Ian |
RE: burrito for AFP request :)
