RealFlight G2

Well, I finally upgraded my video board to carry it and bought G2. I've been way too lucky this year and want to expand my horizons without killing any more balsa trees. Any advice on how to make this work best?

I'm not sure what you are asking. WHat is your flying interest 3D, Pattern, general sport flying, Helicopters etc.? Will you be able to use your actual transmitter hooked to your computer?

Not sure of your question either, but I use their interface cord so that I can use my own transmitter. I also treat the Sim like real flights. It helps you to learn faster if you don't simply use it like a video game.

Real flight is indeed a great tool for perfecting your RC skills. Mine has the supplied transmitter and I love being able to test out the different planes. You can practice almost all of the RC flying you might want to. Good Luck, Dave

I tried hooking up my transmitter, it worked, but not significantly better than the supplied box. I have found it useful. I'm doing snaps and spins with my TigerII with confidence after flying the supplied sport plane that flies almost exactly like my own plane. Going to start working on inverted and knife edge next. I don't care about helicopters or 3-D, just don't want to be as rusty next spring as I was last! I'm guessing that this will be a good investment in the long run, but I'm already looking at the expansion packs, just to find planes I might want to build.

G2 is a great learning tool, I used to learn to hover and do rolling circles. I see you are not interested in 3D but this suggestion may help with other styles as well, go to the Swap Page and download alternate set-ups for the planes you already have. Nothing stock on G2 will flat spin for example but with the tweaked version of some models that are available on the Swap Page you can flat spin nicely.

As for additional advice of how to make it work better try asking in the Flight Simulator Software forum here on RCU.

You guys are lucky ... I fly better in real life than G2! You should see my Bunny Hop landings in G2!!! I have been on it 6 months and it has only helped me in terms of orientation. I can't get a proper snap roll out of it, I do that fine in real life, what am I doing wrong? Hmmmm ...

Don't feel too bad because some models in G2 don't land worth a hoot, Cub, P-51 and some others. Oh' I have landed them fine, but they seem harder than they should.
