The critical items for G2 performance are the graphics card, its memory, and main system memory. The speed of the processor is pretty far down on the list. If you want G2 to perform well then get 128MB of memory, Windows XP, and a video card with at least 32 MB of memory, 64MB is better...

My 32 mb ddram card worked hard to make it look good. I have 512 meg ram, 1.2g thunderbird AMD. and now the ati 64ddram video. G2 now runs like it should, nice and smooth. Plus it is easier to fly when you can see all the frames.

Yah, radeon 7000 VE. I didn't need the high end one with the tv tuner so this one works well. Great frame rate. Check your card slot. just about all newer computers have AGP. I got this Compaq last fall after my old one got zapped by lightning. it has a Accelerated Graphics Port x 4 slot. If your computer is 1 to 2 yrs old I would check it out. AGP is much better. Designed for graphics card.
