Modelling Sig SE in G2
I am trying to model a Sig Something Extra in G2 using the Dazzler as a base. I've carefully measured and adjusted the throws to match my current plane.
The G2 model seems to be very pitch sensitive, which I am defining as: if I trim it out for half throttle, when I go full throttle it goes into about a 30 degree climb. Trim for full throttle, it goes into a 30 degree dive at half. My trim adjustments are done on the radio to elevator only. However, the real model doesn't seem to reflect this pitch change, at least not to this degree. My expectation is that the model should tend to still fly straight and level, just go up and down with changes in throttle setting: the elevator controls speed, the thottle controls altitude ( I know that may sound backwards, but it is what I am trying to learn to be true). Anybody have any comments on my expectaions or why my model doesn't seem to match actual? [ my method for calculating wings follows this post ] Thanks, Tom |

Horizontal stab example:
(1) calculate actual area of tail, calculate actual area of control surface, use that ratio to get the percent for G2. Actuals take into account the fact that the wing is swept and the control surface is swept. (2) using the actual 20 inch span, calculate the "effective chord" such that the effective area matches the actual area : Actual area / 20 inches = effective chord. Use actual 20 inch span and effective chord as input parms to G2. (3) set the tail forward from the end of the fuse by the effective chord times the control surface, (because the hinge is at the end of the fuse). My intention in the above is that the program (G2) is probably using areas for tail surfaces. Am I trying to be too exact and in the process missing "fudge factors? Tom |
