DOES SIM 3D ABILITY REFLECTS REAL 3D ABILITY?
Hello all, it"s good to be back after a while...
O.K. , here's the deal - just recently got me a G2, and on the sim - i can hold a hover and TR until my fingers get numb. now, i hold some 3d machines in my arsenal, from small electric to 1/4 and 1/3 scale gassers, and i remember from my little 3d experience with those that it's alot more difficult to hold a hover, not to say TR, but on the sin i fly on 150% time multiplier and winds 45 deg. up to 10 and 15. (obviously plane setup makes alot of differance, but assuming all real planes are well capable, it must be the pilot...) so i was wondering what the more experienced 3Ders got to say on that... as winter closing in fast - sure glad i got that sim... best to all |

i think afp is probly the closest to 3d other simulators like g2 or instance 3d flgiht is poor

Yeah ditto on that. Mazlat I had the exact same experience. When you're done modifying a plane to TR in G2 it does it so effortlessly that it's not much help for when you get to the real world. G2 just can't simulate the thing getting out of shape the whole time.
It only lacks alot in the 3D aircraft simulation though. G2 does have some nice things to it like for instance its helicopters fly very well for me. And it's thermal simulation is also great fun. It'll keep you entertained for quite a while but for flying 3D you're going to need to move to Aerofly Pro or Aerofly Pro Deluxe to get the full effect. |

After mastering torque roll in the G2 simulator, I was still unable to just hover for a few seconds at the field, where it took me about 60 more flights to make the transition from my simulator experience to the real life. Then I could torque roll very easy different real models for unlimited time (unless the wind took them too far away).
I don't know about Aerofly but G2 gave me the training to make any fast correction without thinking, which I consider that's all you can expect from a flight simulator, after that ,:eek:all you need is practice, practice and more practice at the field. I would like to hear from others. |

Thank you you guy for your replys.
STLPilot - that is a very good looking video there, the first one did not open... spacey - i felt the exact same thing, once it's set up - nothing else for you to do, it is this fact that made bring up this thread, didn't seem right to me... i don't believe i will get a new sim, i did teach me the basics and sharpened my responce to things on high alpha, so i guess it's on to the field to do some real practicing. just hoping for good weather... |

Mazlat, the thing I have discovered about sims, P/C types, is that if your plane is setup the way the sim is then you can do it at the field (if your fingers and brain do not freeze). By setup I mean the whole enchilada. Wing loading, span. throws, expo, lateral balance, engine and engine response, throttle curve, servo speed and resolution etc., etc., etc.. If and only if these conditions are met then the transference can be unbelievable.
All of my planes suffer fatal flaws in comparison, especially in the wing loading area! |
RE: DOES SIM 3D ABILITY REFLECTS REAL 3D ABILITY?
I must say that many of the 60 flights i mentioned before were dedicated to find the optimum setup and c.g. position, since i started with a 3d plane designed by myself and stiff enough to survive some crashes.
Matus777, I think the actual simulators can not predict accurately the real models performances just by inputing the exact measurements of those. In fact most of the times you get better simulation using non real values. This is due to the complexity of simulation and the variety of parameters involved in the physics calculation. Anyway I would like to hear from people using Aerofly Pro how long they took to learn torque roll at the field. |

I've heard many people say that you can "do" 3-D in Realfilght G2 if you have the right plane set up etc....
But that's not the point, it doesn't reflect the way real planes fly in real life and that is the point. I haven't tried some of the newer ones but I just got to the point if I have time to fly on the simulator I'd just as assume get a plane out and fly it for real and learn 10X more. |

ORIGINAL: STLPilot Watch this video. http://home.tiscali.be/flightfreaks/aeroflypro.wmv and this one. http://www.flybuder.com/aeroflyvids/...0hybrid768.wmv The movies are great. How did you get two planes going at the same time? Regards, Lee Snover |

You can record and playback, then record again!
It's easy. |
