I had G2 up and running just fine until last week. My computer caught a virus and I had to delete and reinstall windows. When I got everything working, I could get G2 to work. I tried unistalling and reinstalling, but I get this error "KEEerror 3994 I-Controller Entry does not appear in Control Panel". Any suggestions? It's too cold to fly, and I'll go crazy if I don't get to at least simulate it soon!

LOL... It sounds like the controller driver is not loaded correctly. Go into the Devices control panel and remove the driver for the controller... (It probably has an " ! " by it anyway... Then try letting it get redetected and see if that helps. My guess is maybe the controller was plugged in while you reloaded windows? Windows wouldn't have recognized it and just ignored it. Now the software is trying to communicate with it (to verify the hardware key) and it can't. Hope this helps!

Its a good suggestion, but it doesn't help. There's nothing in my device manager that has a ! by it. Do you know what the I-controller is called in the device manager? I have a "gameport joystick" and a "HID-compliant game controller" under Sound, video and game controllers, but they are both working properly. I was able to update the drivers for both of these, but it didn't help. Should I remove them altogether?

I had a problem with mine once after a re-format. I found that the USB ports were shut off in the set up. After I turned them back on it worked fine. Tom

Hrmm, yeah, the HID compliant should be the G2 controller... Check the "Game Controllers" (or whatever) control panel and see if it's showing up there okay... Regardless it certainly won't hurt to try letting it reload the drivers... "delete" the HID-compliant controller from the devices, unplug the controller, wait a minute or so, then plug it back it... It should auto-detect it and reload it....

That's for the suggestions, but I still got nothing. I tried removing the HID-compliant game controller, waiting and pugging it back in. The computer found it and put it back in device manager. I tried removing the HID-compliant game controller, then starting my G2. This time it asked me to plug in the I controller and I still got the same error. I tried removing the HID-compliant game controller and then unistalling G2. When I reinstall it I still get the same error. My USB ports work. I have a mouse plugged into one and I've used the other one for my Digital camera and jumpdrive. The light on the I-controller flashes just like it did before my comp crashed, so it seems like it should work. I wonder if there are some type of drivers that I need to reinstall since I reinstalled windows. Any other suggestions would be great. Otherwise I guess I'll just call tech support and see if they can help.

No problem, sorry they didn't help. At this point I'm not sure what to tell you. It sounds like the drivers for the controller are loaded okay. There is one other time I know of that I've seen someone having problems with the KE errors.... That's when they first install G2 and it tries to verify the hardware key and the disc. It has to do with the copy protection on the disc. Basically what happens is this, if you install G2 from a "normal" CD-ROM drive or a CD-r drive, when the G2 first starts up it looks for a "bad" place on the disc. (That was put there on purpose of course). A normal CD-Rom or CD-R/W will return a specific type of error and the game goes ahead and finishes loading / works, whatever... However, if since the first install of the game, you've upgraded your CD-ROM to either a DVD-R/W OR a combo CD-Rom / DVD reader drive, (basically anything that will read a DVD), then the error that gets returned is slightly different. This keeps G2 from running and results in the KE errors... If that's what is happening, the ONLY solution i've seen in any of the forums is to add a regular CD-Rom back into the computer and install G2 from it. :eek:

Huh, thats wierd. I don't think it helps though. THis is the same cd-rom that I installed it from the first time. I could check the cd-rom drivers. They may have been lost in the reload and the cd-rom might not be functioning the same way it was. It's a long shot, but I'm out of ideas.

You reinstalled windows but have you done all the upgrades to the windows from MS. There have been many updates in SP1 and SP2 & others. It sounds like you did not reinstall from a recent system back-up. Also is there anything in your device manger that is highlighted in yellow with and ! in it. Just some idea's.

You said that you reinstalled Windows. Did you do a repair from the XP disc or did you reformat and re-install? There are two things that I can think of that may cause this. One, is that your USB driver either didn't install or is corrupt. Try another USB device and see what happens. The other is a registry error. Your registry may have "issues" from the previous install but that's a slim chance if you did a complete reformat.

I think the problem is that I didn't update windows. I'll try that tomorrow and see if it works.
