true simulation of taildragger takeoff
Hi which simulator is best for simulating take offs I have looked at a few but all seem to do the same thing
--gun it and it goes straight and then takes off-- but for tail draggers but we all know that that is not nearly correct there needs to be rudder added to the mix in order to compensate for engine torque not to mention the use of elevator to stop nosing over I lost a nice corsair during takeoff because my skill set was not up to speed if I had had a nice simulator to practice take offs that were realistic I m,ight still have it thanks for any and all feedback Jeff |

I have the realflight g3 and it does vear to the sides.
I bought the simulator then had to upgrade the video card. Bought the gforce 6800 oc and the fluid graphics are excellent. Tony |

Same for AFPD.
After I updated my video card and got it running well I was amazed. Anyway. Have flown G3 and AFPD. Both do simulate taildraggers fairly well. I think AFPD is slightly better. Add some wind and it really is realistic. My opinion. Eric |

I don't know. I have AFPD, and all the warbirds pretty much take off straight ahead without veering to the left and without nosing over. The simulators have got to do a much better job at simulating the "P-Factor" and engine torque.

Hi all.. I find some of the tail draggers in XTR to be reasonable on the ground. The turbo Porter or the CL415 do not take of with only the application of power. They need rudder input and without elevator the Porter will nose over just as nice as you please. The various war birds are also similar ....bert

I'm still waiting for MRC to send me a modified cable for my JR radio. I am dying to find out if warbirds require effort to take off in Reflex XTR, which is a big plus.

When you get your XTR up and flying you will find you can "tweak" the airplane to your likening. For example side thrust can be adjusted to make any aircraft as squirrelly as you like. I have found that a downloaded CUB can be adjusted to fly much the same as my 1/4 scale J3 by playing with the power to weight ratio, weight, CG and lift. XTR is like any software, you have to" learn it" and experiment with it to get the most out of it. bert.... |
