g2 lite trainer heli drifts while hovering
I can keep it flying but cannot hover in one spot. It keeps drifting left or right. Any suggestions to stop the drifting? Thx

not trying to sound like a smartass...
But to fix it, steer the copter... this is what happens in real life..its wind, not onny from the surrounding wind, but from the heli's own rotor-wash.... Hovering (to me) is the hardest part of flying helis |
RE: g2 lite trainer heli drifts while hovering
I have the same flight sim, I just started to use it here in the last month or less, I posted a very simular post here about 3 weeks ago [sm=drowning.gif]
I was told due to a lot of the rotor turning one direction causing the body to turn the other direction and then the tail spining as it does,IT ALL IN A NUT SHELL, causes it to drift to the side, Some days I can keep it in about a 20 foot area and others I am lucky to keep it in a 10 acre area. I acualy got mine to go into a inverted hover better than right side up the second or third time I used the sim [sm=tired.gif] I was so cheesed.[sm=biggrin.gif] All I can say is keep practicing and get over the edge of the problem areas because thats when you begin to realy learn[sm=thumbup.gif][sm=sunsmiley.gif]sunny days to come . I have tried to adjust the trim so that it would counter the natural forces how ever I found my self counter acting the adjustments with the stick in the end so it was nice for the first 30 seconds but then stick work came into play, I have tried switches and well, just played with it because the worse thing that can hapen right now is maybe knocking my soda off the PC table ;) Great luck and have fun with it, I imagine others that are more of an vetran at it may have some better ideas. |
RE: g2 lite trainer heli drifts while hovering
Thank you for the advice. I realize it is my flying that is causing this to happen, was wondering if it was possibly trim adjustments or does the heli have more of a tendency to drift if it is hovering real close to ground as opposed to trying to hover a foot or so off the ground. Thanks again for any advice....
