RC,
That video card will not perform well with G3. Yes, ti will run. But to get decent frame rates you will have to turn off many features. I have an ATI X300 128 MB card and to get 50-60 FPS I have to turn off clouds, terrain detail, and use the lowest shadow setting. Carl |
RE: G3 simulater
Ok well whats with that ? Knife edge said they tested it. what would be the best card to work with this sim ? I don't know if I really want to go and upgrade my computer yet.
I was looking to but don't have money a the moment. |
RE: G3 simulater
G3 likes as much video horsepower as you can afford.
I get good performance, but I have a Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition ($$$). With the right hardware however - it's a cool sim. Jim H. |
RE: G3 simulater
im geting a pci-express x850 card that should be good.;)

RE: G3 simulater
im using the radion 9950 for $139 its an AGP card. it runs fine .. the PCI express equivelent is the 9250. Im running a 3 year old athalon 2800.. runs fine witout a hitch.. before that i had an ancient nvidia 4800 and it ran fine too but i had to kill the shadows and cut the main menu graphics option down some

RE: G3 simulater
nVidia 7800 GTX either single or SLI. nVidia 6800 Ultra either single or SLI. 7800 is top of the food chain, until Crossfire becomes mainstream. Get the absolute best computer system you can afford. The photofields in G3 require less computer power than the fully-enabled G3 3D environments. You WILL have to get a serious gaming machine to utilize the sim to its max. No ifs, ands, or buts...been there, done that.

RE: G3 simulater
drumbum,
Is your video card the Radeon 9550? or 9950 as you posted? I have the ATI Radeon 9550 card 256MB AGP and am having trouble getting G3 to run at all... I am encouraged if this is the card that is working well for you... I'm running a 1.6GHz Pentium 4, with 768MB ram but so far G3 just crawls. I updated the drivers when I installed the card last Spring but have not yet installed the latest G3 updates and patches since it seemed a lost cause on this system... Charlie |

RE: G3 simulater
drumbum,
Thanks for the info... insufficient ram could be a part of the problem for me but I will update drivers, etc., and see what that accomplishes... Might just be time to bite the bullet and do a new system I appreciate your input, Charlie |
