AFPD planes hover by themselves?

Why do the planes in AFPD want to fall into a hover all by themselves? Both the included shockflyers and a custom Funtana that I downloaded and setup exactly like my real one always want to drop their tails and lock into a hover all by themselves. So much so in fact that I have to hold *down* elevator to hold them in a harrier to keep the tail from sinking. In real life my planes all require that you hold *up* elevator to keep the nose up and tail down in harriers. Neutralize the controls and my real planes fly out, they don't sink into a hover.

In both real life and in the sims I have the cg's set to provide neutral flight upright and inverted. In the sim, moving the cg forward to a less neutral position still doesn't get rid of this behavior so it doesn't seem that this behavior is cg driven.

I would really like the get the sim more in line with reality (although it would be nice if real planes flew like this :) ). Is there something I can change in the sim?

Thanks
Clark

Fly the Extra 330S.

A little cryptic but I'm game. :)

... So I looked at the Extra 330S. Unmodified it hovers much like my real Funtana, but its cg is tweaked forward 2.8 inches and it requires alot of down elevator to fly level inverted. Moving its cg back (to -4 inches) makes its more neutral upright and inverted but then it begins to get easier (too easy?) to hover again.

But it is better than the Shocky and the Funtana. I'll look into other parameters like incidence and see what else I find.

Hi,

open the TMD with WORDPAD,
scroll down to propeller section and decrease the parameter for DragLateral

cd Propeller/
...
DragLateral = 0.28

Also try the OMP Fusion

One of the better ones for realism

Falling with Style,

go into the aircraft editor, and click on a wing, then go to Incidence and set it to 0, then do the same for other wing, and set incidence to 0 for the stabs,

then it will not require NEARLY as much down elevator when inverted

Thanks all.

I'll give these a try.
