just wondering, is it possible to download a g2 color scheme and use it in g3?

Yes it is possible. A hint of warning is that some trim schemes get messed up on the plane and go in the wrong places.:D

yeah I did that in despiration... I have like 100 trims for the cap now becaus of it. the planes you shouldn't do are the p-51, ultimate bipe, and cessna 182 if you updated your g3. it works fine on the other planes (almost)

i downloaded a few color schemes, and i extracted them, but they dont come in to the g3 color schemes list

Did you send them to the right folder? They have to be sent to the trims folder...
