Painting Planes

This might be an off-the-wall question, but does anyone know where I can get Photoshop templates of different planes so my kid can change some paint schemes? The one we're really after is the Ultimate bipe.

Thanks for any help,

Ken

If you already have photoshop then you can have G2 make the template for you.

Click Aircraft--->select aircraft--->make new scheme
select a name for your scheme and click ok. Real Flight will tell you where the file was stored.

Go in with photoshop and make any editorial changes you wish. And viola a new paint scheme for you plane.

I find that primer gray is the most realistic for me as I have 5 planes that I'm building and none in the air right now :D

Good luck, and let me know if you need any help with photoshop

Thanks for your help. I've got all of that figured out, but I guess what I'm looking for is layered templates. The way it's all set up now, the planes are pretty difficult to paint because you can't just select the color and change it, like you'd be able to do if they were layered.

Maybe we'll just have to spend more time when it comes to painting the planes.

Thanks again!

If you're familiar with the concept of layers it makes it quite easy and quick. Simply make a curves layer, and adjust to bring a high contrast between the colors (other layers will work to). Then either use your paint bucket or magnetic lasso and fill in the color you want.

Theres all kinds of little tricks for photoshop.

Mike

Thanks Mike, we'll give it a whirl. One last question, how do we get it back into the game?

I've got the .tga named the same as what it was called when I clicked the 'make new scheme' button, and after we dink with it we put it back into the 'color schemes' folder. We start the game, select that plane and hit 'reload' and the new scheme doesn't pop up.

What are we doing wrong? It's still saved as a .tga.

Thanks again...

There is a seperate tab for each color scheme not unique to plane copies only to plane types. Its under the select aircraft menu click the drop down menu and select the scheme and then click ok.

Hope this helps and good luck
