MS Flight Simulator 2004 problem

I have been using this flight sim since it first came out in the DOS version with no problems until now. Within the last few weeks when I start the sim it comes up with the full brakes on and the elevator trim goes to the full up position. I can only get the brakes to release by pluging in the foot petals but the trim cannot be adjusted with either the joystick or mouse. I have tried 3 different joysticks and also a yoke to no avail. Still could not adjust the trim. If I go into the program setting and disable the joystick then I can adjust the trim with the mouse but as soon as I enable the joystick the trim goes back to the full up position and cannot be adjusted. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
Rayt

One of your axis must be set as the trim. I have a Saitek X45 and my knobs were originally set as trim. Just go into your settings and change the controls so it isn't set as a trim. Hopefully this works.

i have the EXACT same problem, the trim however stopped doing that, dunno how it fixed itself though.

However, for the brakes, i just tap Y to go into slew mode, and then back out right away and the brakes go off, but can still be applied.

Scott,

Thanks for the info on slew mode. I double checked all settings and found nothing wrong. Tried your slew suggestion and it worked. Going into and out of the slew mode released the brakes and also unlocked the trim adjustments. When I go to another plane I have to use the slew again but it works.

Thanks
Rayt
