which simulator
i want to get into rc flying really badly and i was looking at a simulator to start me off. i wanted something that is pretty realistic and allows you to build your own plane and field, the feild isn't nessacary but would be a cool feature. also i wanted it to be able to do 3d fling and regular flying. also i wanted it to come with a tx.

RE: which simulator
That's a religious question and you'll get a zillion answers.
I've owned AeroFly (latest version) and G3 and prefer G3. I just like the way G3 feels and operates, they are both good and both fit your requirements. Be aware though that you need a fairly beefy Desktop computer and graphices card to get all your money's worth. |
RE: which simulator
our computer is reall new and quick. i guess the g3 is the one, anyone else have any suggestions?

RE: which simulator
I use G3, it works good for me, I can't speak for any other ones but G3 is awesome. I'm sure STLPilot can give you a mile long list of why you should pick AFPD, but then another person can post a mile list on why to buy G3. It's all a matter of personal opinion. Either will work. I recommend G3 from personal experience.

RE: which simulator
G3 is the best IMO.

RE: which simulator
can g3 do SOME 3d flying and SOME inverted flying? oh yah are there any indoor places to fly in g3.
|
RE: which simulator
Yes, most simulators do all the above.
You might look through the screen shots thread. |
RE: which simulator
ok, i'll go look mat that thread.

RE: which simulator
For G3 there are indoor flying sites.

i'm going to get g3.

RE: which simulator
question on g3, im am almost about to purchase i just have a few last questions
1. how well does the panaramic picture taking of ur flying site work. 2. are the planes fairly relistic (compared to acutally flying them) 3. how "beefy of a computer do u need" 4. how much did d3 help u if u have it. also based from the scale 1-10 (10 being the best) what would u rate. |
RE: which simulator
IF you are just starting i would suggest G3.
it's better for the beginners, with the virtual flight instructor and stuff BUT for working on freestyles and IMAC routines, and perfecting manuvers, i use AFPD. |
RE: which simulator
what about fs1?
|
RE: which simulator
FS One is to new and I don't think anyone has it to post an opinion about it yet. IF you see a review of FS One come from someone who isn't a regular on this forum, then I would say that it's a Horizon promotion. I'm hoping to fly it at my LHS soon and I will post my findings. So far it looks pretty darn good, but then again, Horizon can market dirty socks to a goldfish and still get a sale.:D Only time will tell, but right now G3 is probably the best. You can make it easy or hard, you can make it fly the way you want it to, and you can join the online club.

RE: which simulator
so, when are you going to go try fsone??
|
RE: which simulator
when it comes in stock
|
RE: which simulator
From the videos I saw of FSOne it looks like it flies like XTR.
|
RE: which simulator
im just going to wait on the sim, once i hear a true opinion of fs one.until than, im on stand still.

RE: which simulator
i'll update you guys on when i get the g3.

RE: which simulator
Which simulator is best for practicing flying giant scale warbirds?
|
RE: which simulator
I can comment on what's in the FS One sim. We have many Hangar 9
planes, and they are "sport scale". The Scaling Wizard in the sim will scale up the size of the plane and the physics to match whatever size is given. We've already done this with many of the baseline airplanes to generate variants. I'm not sure what defines a "Giant Scale" airplane, but here are some big planes - a lot of them scaled up Hangar 9 planes. All but the MiG-15 are less than 100 lbs. Those approaching 100-lbs fit in under the new AMA 100-lb experimental category: 33% scale P-51 (scaled Hangar 9 P-51) 147-in Span (86-lb) 33% scale T-34 (scaled Hangar 9 T-34) 130-in Span (49-lb) 33% scale Texan (scaled Hangar 9 Texan) 166-in Span (87-lb) 33% scale Corsair (scaled Hangar 9 Corsair) 162-in Span (93-lb) 33% scale Cessna C182 Skylane (scaled Hangar 9 C182) 143-in Span (44-lb) 33% scale MiG-15 (scaled version of David Ribbe's BVM MiG-15) 131-in Span (141-lb) 33% scale J-3 Cub (scaled ParkZone J-3, looks like a big foam plane) 140-in Span (35-lb) 33% scale Ultimate TOC (scaled Hangar 9 Ultimate TOC) 77-in Span (18-lb) 33% scale FuntanaS 90 (simulates the Katana look and feel, scaled Hangar 9 FuntanaS 90) 96-in Span (19-lb) ultra light - version 1 96-in Span (26-lb) sized like the Krill Katana S 33% - version 2 33% scale Piper Pawnee (Peter Goldsmith's Pawnee towplane scaled up) 143-in Span (41-lb) 33% scale Swift (Peter Goldsmith's Swift sailplane scaled down) 165-in Span (14-lb) 33% Edge 540 (stock Hangar 9) 97-in Span (22.5-lb) 46% scale Ultimate TOC (stock Hangar 9) 110-in Span (40-lb) 47% scale FuntanaS 90 / Katana (sized like the Krill VOLEX Revolution 47% II) 136-in Span (44-lb) And we also have several 100% scale variants. The 100% scaled planes do not match their full scale counterparts because the propellers on a lot of the above are low pitch and also we don't have variable pitch like full scale airplanes sometimes have. This is the list that's in the sim now. Until things are shipping it's all tentative however. |
RE: which simulator
When you say there is no variable pitch, do you mean on the fly on in the aircraft editor, or of course, not at all.
Waiting for the day when one of you guys will figure out how to put prop pitch on a proportional channel. |
