ok i've heard different stories
here is the question.
I have realflight g2 usb version
I like using my own radio pluged into the realflight transmitter.
some have said after a while it will damage the 6xas unless i extend the antenna, some say i dont need to just pull the crystal.
some say unhook battery well then it does not work at all with no battery.
I like setting my radio up and then trying it on G2
before crashing a $400 plane.
what is the best way to hook up to the G2 interlink controller.?

I recently got one of these radios and I planned on using it with G2 also.....I had no idea that it may cause damage.......I'm looking forward to some insight on this topic.

If you pull the crystal, the radio cant oscillate or transmit.
This will remove any possibility of hurting the RF output stage.
I wouldn't use a 6xa on the simulator, but thats just my opinion. Good Luck

I pull the crystal on my Futaba 6ch conquest with no problems over the past year. I just have to remember to put the crystal back in when I go flying in the real world!!! Don't ask me how I know@**&!

Hi guys - turning on ANY transmitter with the antenna collapsed will eventually lead to heat build up. The transmitter is "trying" to transmit but can't very well that way. My 6XA transmitter begins to feel warm to the touch in just a couple of minutes with the antenna collapsed. Always extend the antenna, even when testing servos and radio gear on the bench. I'm not sure about pulling the crystal - maybe that is the answer when used with the Realflight if you don't extend the antenna.

I also just received a G2. Trying to use Futaba 6xas cannot get it to work any suggestions anyone.
