phoenix for christmas...

have just enough $$ for a sim this year [as well as the kids pressies!]
and am very tempted by phoenix - have done my research and am
just about to order.
any comments on my choice?
g3.5 seems to gimicky, fsone doesnt do helis well, afpd is for planes,
reflex support is not up to scratch - do they listen to anyone?
and this new kid seems to have it licked
am flyin a rex450 and want to practice 3d
so unless theres something ive missed this will be in my stocking on xmas day
any comments welcome and merry christmas ho ho ho!

This is about as close as you can get with out standing in a field with a tranny in your hands and the aircraft editing is excellent.

I say you've made a very informed choice - without letting hype affect your judgement.

A special bonus for you would be the fact that they have a TRex 450 available for download which has been flight-tested by some very well-known TRex flyers.

thanks guys - next decision, do i order from Tower or direct phoenix-sim.com
some peeps have said ordering direct is quicker than from Tower!
where did you get yours from?

i don't like phoenix

if we remove shadows it's just a 160$ FMS
with a photography as a background

Doctoring screenshots of sims you don't like doesn't cut it.

This photo was edited out by your moderator. Cut the crap.

even clearview sim got more realism,
well but no games on it, no full screen available, and so on,

your having a laugh. that picture is so out of context is silly. For a start hes switched off shadows and the prop. This option is available for people running below minimum spec. My PC is 2 years old and runs super smoothly at much higher res and detail.

Secondly that screenshot is zoomed in on.

lastly thats not even the current version of the simulator. Im sure clearview looked worse than that at V1!!

skirtz this is so below the belt its rediculous.

heres a real screen shot.

Well said, Ade.

I was actually really annoyed when I saw what had happened to this thread while I was at work.

The rules of RCU are that you discuss RC topics, not other posters. That thread was locked in order to edit out the off topic spitting. Turned out there was little else.

Ade,

Looks like your are havind difficulties reading and comprehending. I did not post any phoenix pictures nor I said anything about it. Please read my post again. Please don't troll behind me, you look desperate. Sometimes I wonder, if that sim is so good, why they use your "services" to push the product so hard over peoples throats?

This is my post:

>And is 5 times cheaper too...

For any with HALF a brain that is a post regarding measurable property of ClearView - the price and have no refference to phoenix qualities - good or bad or whatever.

i didnt past it, lol

i just removed the shadow pixel by pixel with clone stamp

Yeah, how clever. And not a fair representation of the simulation.

i didnt saw the option of "remove shadow" before.

se here it is another picture with a clearly removed shadow.

has you can see, plane seems flight in the air without shadows,
and texture planes are not enought to become "realistic" in short distances.

Dave,

This is Stefan from ClearView. Before this goes over the board (like anything that Ade get's into) please look at the message thread again:

1. I did not poist any phoenix pictures as you allege. These are Zuiko posts.
2. I did not post any CV picture - The picture is part of Zuiko post again. The picture in my post is from quoting Zuiko's post - that is what RCU does when you quote somebody.
3. All I said is that CV is 5 times cheaper (and is actially 5.33 times cheaper so I that is true as well.

Please before jumping with insinuations against me, check the facts and read the thread again. Take note who posted what and when. I am sure you are onest guy and let the facts make your mind.

Thanks,
Stefan

Well said, Ade.

I was actually really annoyed when I saw what had happened to this thread while I was at work.

First we get an obvious troll post a picture which has actually been messed around with to intentionally make it look below standard, but then the developer of Clearview has the cheek to post one of his stock shots in some kind of weird, twisted "comparison". Any respect I had for this Clearview sim has just dissapeared completely! Also, if you look closely at that first picture, you can see the poster has actually cut the model out from another shot (you can see where he's made a hash of it under the right wing).

any way, it's okey, not a bad sim,

but for me aerofly is better,

whats this fascination with removing shadows?

you have shadows in real life, you remove shadows and oh look it doesnt look real... what a supprise <sigh>

you say you like AFPD, I personally dont aggree with you. the models seem to stable in hover to me and just generally too well behaved.

Zuiho, why are you cropping the images? Lets see a full screen without any photoshop messing.

Here we go again.... Ade, why are you bad mouthing AFPD ? You are clearly affiliated with phoenix and are getting paid for your work on it, so your opinion sure looks like shilling.
I have not flown phoenix but I know AFPD has the finest flight model for planes and you sound a little disingenious here....

even without shadows plane must touch the floor, like in real life

bad fusion with environment

do you work for a newspaper? your skill at twisting words is amazing well done.

i wasnt slagging off AFPD, your right its great... way better for fixed wing than any other sim out there, apart from phoenix. I was merely replying to a comment your little friend made.

please carry on your doing a really good job at promoting phoenix.

i dont see this plane in phoenix, where it is?

RE: phoenix for christmas...

that model is in 1.02a which is the current release. If you have a legal copy you will be able to download this off their website.

the grass is very short on that runway you were looking at. Sure it might need to sing into the grass a little there but why is it a problem. who cares if the wheels sink into short grass by 10mm?

very minor point compared to flight dynamics and as far as im aware no other sim does this.

Ade
