Landing simulation. Is the RF G2 realistic ?
I am trying to improve my landing especially in varying wind conditions. The RF G2 seems like a good option, but how realistic is the landing ? I sure do not want to spend $$$ only to get disappointed. Is there news of any newer version i.e. G3 around the corner ? Thanks !

Landing simulation. Is the RF G2 realistic ?
I can only speak from the stand point of RC Helis. It has been my experience that the sim is very similar if not harder than the real thing. I learned everything that I know thus far from the simulator. I have translated that into real life with no "major" crashes and very valuable experience. In my opinion and from what I have read that of others also, the simulator will not be a waste of money. I know it hasn't been for me.
At least look at it this way, if it is raining boot up the sim and you're still flying. Seriously though, it's worth it. |

The only area you don't get realism is in the fact that you can't see the ground as easily as flying the real thing. G2 is a great way to teach yourself 'finger memory' so you can fly in without worrying about which way to move the aileron stick to level the wings. -David C |
G2 landing
Look in the options menue.
The degree of difficulty of the landing can be set by moving the slide indicator from easy to "realistic" and anywhere in between. Set on realistic, I think it is more difficult than a live model. Set on easy will really get you spoiled...croz |
G2
And use the "look at ground" option. That way you'll always have the horizon in veiw. It helps to enlarge the model also. I assigned "look at ground" to the "o" on the numbers pad, makes it easy to toggle on and off.

It's true the program designers have made a great attempt to overcome the inevitable perspective problems that come from trying to model a real life situation on a small screen, by they had to add a feature that moves away from realism to do it. -David |
Landing simulation. Is the RF G2 realistic ?
Landing in G2 is quite realistic. Some of the planes, like Estra Special, require very gentle landings, or the landing gear breaks.
After flying on G2 for a year (while building my first plane, which eventually turned out to be the third plane I flew), I soloed on my 2nd flight. Everything was like in G2, except for pesky prairy dogs crossing the runway. :) Just my $.02, Boris |

I land the planes in G2, like I land my real planes. TO me it is the same! (BAD) :D:D
