sim standards question
You folks know if all simulator manufacturers do as Reflex and make the cable a proprietarily part of the product?
I am frustrated because of a lost and seemingly unreplaceble cable. Relex won't sell or "license" a cable. also, are cables made in two parts - the cable AND a respective dongle? Thanks. Dan |
RE: sim standards question
No. Most sims just use the joystick signal. It's only the very few products like G3, AFPD and Reflex protecting their investment with a proprietary interface for copy protection. To see which sims don't use it, check this: http://www.milehighwings.com/sim_compatibility.htm. In Reflex you have to seperate. They have the interface blue or red and they have the cable going to the radio. Just the cable is no problem. The Interface is a problem.

RE: sim standards question
For most sims, the "dongle" (aka: interface) is their copy protection to prevent unauthorized copies from floating too wildly. Reflex, AFPD, Phoenix, G3.x, FS One... every major commercial sim has some sort of dongle in use (I should know, I've got 5 of them right in front of me.)
The freeware, shareware or "hobby programmer" products probably don't use any form of hardware protection. -Case |
