RE: patch for G 3.5?

Actually, to help anyone who reads this with the same question...................

If you go to the Great Planes website, and click on the RF links, and look in the support links, there actually is a description of what's offered for alternative update methods. One is a download of a previous update version. Another is an email link to their support.

editorial follows..........

Great Planes offers limited support for the updates. Their assumption is that everyone can and will update their RealFlight install through the sim's intro screen that pops up when you start the sim. They also assume that everyone wishes to update to whatever version they make available through that process. A lot of people don't notice the game's update functionality, but that's not the whole deal.

Unfortunately, a large number of G3.5 users have internet access through dialup. And the updates are HUGE when dialup is considered. So they have also offered updates that can be downloaded from their website. It's not easy to find, and so far, it hasn't been really up to date. There have been a couple of updates, but so far, they appear to have only offered one with that method, so "it" is an appropriate term. If you find "it" on the GP website, you will discover that "it" is one of the previous updates. The present one isn't there. And no mention of other updates. So if you wanted to fallback to a previous that worked for you after discovering a later one won't work on your system, you're out of luck.

So here's the deal.....
If you're on broadband, you can update to whatever version is going to be installed when you open the game and click on the "update" switches. It appears you have no choice of versions.

If you've found their support info, they have a button that pops an email window so you can email them and find out how to get an update. If you do try to install from the game, they at least tell you up front that the install could take as much as 33 hours or whatever. And everyone I've seen would have taken my dialup over 11-12 hours. And they also offered at one time, on the website, a download so that you could download the update on another pc that has broadband, copy it to a disc and use the disc on your home pc. Last I checked on that, it wasn't for the latest version, nor were other versions offered.

If it isn't exactly that way this minute, then hopefully it'll be better than described.
