NEED INFO ON THESE SIMULATORS PLEASE

I am getting back in the rc field again. I never fully mastered flying, and thus have
decided to buy a flight simulator. I have seen the Great Planes 3.5 version at a local
hobby store. Very fancy..even shows the wing breaking up upon a crash - but do I
really need that? And there is the $2oo price tag!
I saw another one put out by Sig Manufacturing for $39.99 for the transmitter and
program. About 15 planes are on it, including an ME262. The graphics are not fancy.
One disadvantage is that you can't put in a wind speed, unlike the G3.5 one. See FLY
RC, Oct. issue, P. 132. A 3rd one ( same, P. 31) is the Mini Mag Training System which
includes the simulator plus the Mini Mag. Can anyone out there give me advise? I am
escecially interested in someone who has used the last 2 versions. Is lack of wind speed
a disadvantage? Thank you.

It does not matter which you choose. If it's a simulator, ( I personally use Aerofly Deluxe), it'll do. Whilst teaching your thumbs and saving you Mucho Money. You'll have something that will give countless hours of playtime during a rainy/cold/snowy/HOT dayz. Pick and enjoy as there's a ton of info on here regarding them. Find one that fits your budget and goferit.

Good Luck

hi - have a look at www.phoenix-sim.com - this is cheaper than the others,
but you need a transmitter [one will cost $20]
this sim has great graphics, over 20 planes, a very realistic flight engine and
has great support
I have been using a sim for a year - it has taught me a lot and saved me $$$

If all you want to do is to learn to fly, then buy the cheapest available. I spent the money on RealFlight and I'm still spending money on it - a new controller (mine broke) just cost me $50.00. I can get my Futaba 9C replaced for that![:@]

But, with RealFlight I've done a lot more then just learn to fly RC.;) When I get the change to actually take my planes to the flying field I can now do most aerobatic maneuvers with my aerobatic planes, they even look halfway decent - and I've received compliments on my flying abilities from experienced pilots. [sm=thumbs_up.gif]Plus I can even hover my 3D plane (kind of). [sm=75_75.gif]Of course on the Sim I can hover all day and I could probably fly unlimited in IMAC!:D

All of that with less then a year in the hobby. The simulator has built confidence and abilities that I don’t think I’d have without it ... the old saying; “you get what you pay for” is true with RC simulator too.

Have a look at ClearView. http://rcflightsim.com/?gclid=CK_P28...FRA_YAodGWpiFQ
There's a free demo and very detailed description of it.

I just got it. I'm very impressed with what you get for $40, It's performance is very close to the high priced Sims. It's only available for on line download. Of course this doesn't include a controller, but you can pick up an Esky on Ebay for under $20.

And no, I don't work for; nor am I afiliaited with ClearView in any way.

Have fun

Will the Old Real Flight controller work on Clear view?
