I just had my first real flying experience today. I have been practicing with G2 for about a month and a half and I just got my AMA card yesturday. It was a nice sunny day today so I loaded up the plane and the kids and headed out to the field. One of the instructors from my club was there so I introduced myself and asked for help. He was pretty leary of instructing with out a buddy box. I do not have one yet but I couldn't wait to fly. So he checked out my plane and had to trim it a little. Finnally he took the plane off, flew it for awhile then slowly gave me the controls. He was amazed at how well I performed! He said he couldn't believe it. Not a problem nor a blunder!!! In fact during the third flight, after he took the plane off and handed me the control he sat down on his lawnchair next to me and waited till it ran out of gas before I handed the controls back for him to land. I think I could have taken off and landed but I thought I had better not push it for my first time out. "You'll be able to do landings in no time." the instructor said. I owe the success I experienced to Real Flight G2! It is almost EXACTLY like real life! I would recommend it to anyone interested in being successful at beggining RC flying in a short period of time.

As a follow-up. I really think the G2 sim is great and it works very well as a training tool. I also recommend receiving instruction from someone with experience. As an example, although I think I could have taken off and landed my first time out, there is probably no way I could have done a dead-stick landing if I had to. My instructor showed me how it is done. He also gave me some advice on holding the control sticks with my thumb and index finger rather than just my thumb. Both are valuable pieces of information that are not provided by a simmulator. I can however, practice what he taught me on the sim so I will be that much closer to soloing in short order.

I have 20 years experience and just bought G2. I will primarily use it to practice IMAC sequences and learn to fly helis. I'm having a lot of fun with it and have already seen an improvement in my aerobatics after only two days.

As a learning tool for beginners, it seems very capable. You can do all kinds of things like add wind, gusts, throw the trims off, and have aircraft failures. It even seems pretty good for take-offs and landings. I think its good for learning aerobatics too.

One thing I have been experimenting with is the visual scale. If you set the aircraft visual scale to 2x, 5x, or even 10x, you can really see how each and every nuance of stick input effects the aircraft. It also has the effect of slowing down the apparent flight speed. It really works for nailing those difficult maneuvers.

yep about the same here my friend. I love it. I even still have aero-chopper. it was the best back in the day.. G2 is wonderful!
and its so nice to keep up and practice a lot ~S~
It also taught me nose in and autos on Helli's And when I went
out to do that, guess what? it worked perfect ~S~

No instructor here in Hawaii, so I went and upgraded my computer and got a G-2
I figured if it was good enough for the military it might be good enough for me. A possible improvement they might make would be to position the plane on the screen in various locations to help with the lack of periferial vision . especially in pylon racing. etc.
It has already paid for itself.

i HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE WITH G2 i WASN'T ABLE TO FLY SO AFTER 2 PLANES! (1 PICO CUB a 1 TWIN STAR) i GOT G2 AND ANOTHER TWIN STAR aFTER 3 WEEKS ON THE SIM I WENT AND FLEW AND IT WAS FINE I EVEN MANAGED TO DO A SOLO HAND LAUNCH

How do you land the twinstar on G2 without crashing? I land all the other aircraft without a problem.

Well, I had the same problem. Lot's of stuff you could do, but my favorite solution to eliminate the prop hits was to eliminate the props. I changed both engines to turbine. Makes everything rather fictional... and sure, the plane is out of site before you can blink, but it's a lot of fun in the "Pilot behind aircraft" view. The only other problem is that the fuel only lasts about 1 minute, but once the fuel runs out, you can land it.

No question G2 is great. My question is about the add ons. I have #1 so I could fly the Big Stick. I'm tempted to pick up 2,3,4, but I'm wondering if they are worth it. I'm not interested in the battleship or other silly things that are not realistic. I want to fly planes modeled as good as the Big Stick. I want "Real", not just fun. To me G2 is a tool not a toy. With that in mind, would you all recommend vol. 2 and/or 3 and/or 4.

All the vol. with realflight have a verity of planes to choose from. I have all four vol. and do not fly all the planes. Since I like aerobatic planes, I like to fly the Cap 232, Extra 300, Edge 540. They also have a veriety of flying sites or you can make up your own.
I guess just figure out what your plane type intrest are and decide witch volume is best for you.
