Knifeedge just announced yesterday that they have repackaged the addons 1-2 and they are available to G4 users free. They are presently working on 3-5 and they will be released as well in the future and made available free as well:D

Also G4 version 4.00.051 was released as well, so you have to update your realflight prior to using the free downloads.

I have been waiting for the Viper 500...........looks like I will be waiting a little longer

Here are the complete instructions for downloading/installing Add Ons Volumes 1 and 2 content in to RealFlight G4:

RealFlight Add-Ons 1 & 2 have been repackaged for RealFlight G4. Even better, they are now available as free downloads to all RealFlight G4 owners! Numerous technical issues prevented the original Add-Ons disks from working with G4, but because we want G4 users to have access to this content, we're giving it away. In cases where a Volume 1 or 2 aircraft was already offered with RealFlight G4 (e.g. the Piper Cub), that aircraft will not appear in the repackaged Add-Ons. All of the Add-Ons content is otherwise unmodified.

The repackaged Add-Ons volumes are ONLY compatible with G4 version 4.00.051 or later. If you have not yet updated your G4 installation to version 4.00.051, the automated updating process can be found on the G4 Launcher window (select Additional Options -> Registration/Updates).

INSTRUCTIONS

For each file downloaded above:
1. Unzip the file. If you have Windows XP or Vista, you can just double-click it.
2. Extract the .zip file's contents to C:\Program Files\RealFlightG4\Data.
3. Run RealFlight G4 and the Add-Ons content should be available in the aircraft and airport selection dialogs.

PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT attempt to use the Add Ons CD ROMs to install Volumes 1 and/or 2 in to RealFlight G4. These specially prepared zipped folders and instructions are the ONLY way to install Volumes 1 and 2 in to G4. Add-Ons 3, 4, and 5 will also be re-packaged for G4 and released for free when they are ready. These files will NOT work with any other version of RealFlight. This content is released "as-is".

I can not open the file after downloading it. Any ideas why. When I try to open it I get the "use web program to find appropriate program" dialog box. Do I need a special program to open dck files?

Looks like G4 has FS one beat. Those 5 add-on would be $150 it you bought all of them.

Those add ons are not the ones they are selling, I think they are the G3 add ons modified for G4, I downloaded them after I ordered the G4 add on package from tower (1-4) and they are different airfields and planes so now I actually have 6 addons to my G4. Now I nee ad on 5.... I'm too darn addicted to this sim LOL. I never used my Aerofly Pro Deluxe nearly this much. That's going up for sale soon.

Actually, Dauntae, the package you ordered from Tower was for Expansion Packs 1-4.

The Add Ons are other packages of additonal airplanes and airfields that were what RealFlight/GreatPlanes/KnifeEdge created first for G3 before G4 existed. After they had made Add Ons 1,2,3,4, and 5, they dediced to change the name of the packs and started calling the newer packs, Expansion Packs.

You've actually got Expansion Packs 1, 2, 3, and 4, and AddOns 1 and 2. All of us are waiting for AddOns 3, 4, and 5.

There is a rebate offered for anyone who bought the G3 within the last year if they upgrade to the G4 !

I am having the same issue as Eric. I redownloaded it several time to be sure it wasn't a bad install. I also have restarted my PC, and have tried to install while G4 was running. No luck. Any suggestions? ( Running Visa )

Each addon, 1 and 2, is downloaded as a zip folder. I don't know how Vista works, but with the previous operating systems you simply unzip zip folders. These have a file within that you simply move into the folder as instructed. That folder is usually "C:\Program Files\RealFlightG4\Data" That's all you do. The file is seen and understood by the simulator as is.

If you've moved the dck file into the \Data\ folder and your G4 does not see it there, then you simply need to update your G4 with a more recent update/version.
