Real Flight controller with FMS

Can anyone tell me how to setup the transmitter for Real Flight to work with FMS? All the controls are wrong and when I change mapping it seems to get worse!

This is what I have done RLeeds, I have the wingman rumble pro (considerable diffrent) but the setup should be just about the same (I hope!! )
Make sure your controller is plugged in. Open FMS and go to the Controls menu, click Analog, then a small menu will appear, it says No Interface, Joystick Interface, etc. I chose Joystick Interface (try this first, if it doesn't work, try one of the other selections) Then press Mapping/Calibration. Another screen pops up, the left half should be Mapping, the right half Calibration. Click Calibrate, the some of blue lines should start dancing, follow the instructions by moving your sticks around. The lines should be moderatly still. Click Next. Center your sticks, then click Finish. (Your not done yet! ;) ) You need to determine which stick does which. Move your throttle back and forth, one of the blue bars should go up and down, substitute the number corresponding to that bar on the Mapping side of the menu. Follow the same steps for the other channels. If the channels are reversed, check the Inv box. I don't know what the Exp box does (maybe it's exponential, I haven't expirimented enough)

Hope this helps!!!

I cannot get FMS to see my Realflight parrellel interface at all. Any suggestions? Realflight has no trouble seeing the interface.

Thanks

As far as I know the parallel interface adaptor for RealFlight can only be read by the RealFlight software. I believe the parallel interface encodes the signal with the pic chip in the interface.

I just tried with my RCJOY USB interface and I don't think it is seeing that either. What that means is that in the new updated version they left out the ability to use a usb controller. That's not progress if you ask me. I may be forced to buy GP's product!

Billy,
The original thread was about the use of RealFlight controller with FMS, and you are talking about the use of 3rd party USB controller with RealFlight. :)

Any way, have you tried the following trick (from RealFlight support knowledge base):
http://www.gpsoftware.com/kb/q01-1013.htm
They say that after editing realflight.INI file, your USB controller becomes visible in RF.

Hope this helps,
Boris

I thought you were talking about the new GP usb controller. I thought a little info on a third party usb controller might add to a better understanding of how it works. I'll keep quiet next time.

I have the new G2 version with the usb controller. I have tried it with FMS and it works great. I didn't have to change anything. I just setup FMS to use the joystick. I may have helped that I was previously using an USB version of the thrustmaster joystick.

FMS is almost as addictive as RF G2 using the USB InterLink controller.

I have G2 also and everything is weird in FMS. Throttle is on elevator. elevator is on rudder elevator seems to be on aileron.
Can't seem to fix it in mapping either. I really want to fly the Airbus. Can't do it with the controls like this. Any suggestions?

You can build an inexpensive parellel interface for the FMS software. It cost about 8 dollars in parts from radio shack and it very easy to build. Works great with my Futaba Super 8. Check out the website for more details.

bad meat
open up your control menu. Click the button on the left. You will see numbers and boxes. By chaning the numbers around (just like on your rx) you can change what channel does what. You can also reverse the servos by checking the box. Hope this helps.
PS - I used to have the screen name "Rancid Bacon".

I finally got it straightened out now. Thanks. I think I'll stick with Real Flight. Wanted to give FMS a try though.

spam=badmeat I used badmeat years ago for an e-mail account I used in situations where I thought I would get spammed to death. Not sure why I started using it exclusively.
Rancid Bacon......now thats cool! Maybe I'll chage to something like Putrid Mucous. Nah, I'm sure some one of the new bands already has that name.
