rc simulator question
I have a gws camera slow stick pics detail here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=847844
I am a newb I’ve flown a pico stick back in 2003 that was long time ago. Would it be easier if I practice flying fast plane in rc sim than when I actually fly the SS it would be a cake? or should I just fly something similar to ss? |
RE: rc simulator question
Every plane will teach you something, so if you learn to fly both, you'll have more bases covered. ;)
When I was learning, I began on a sim using a .40 trainer. The first real plane I flew was the SS. I flew on absolutely calm days and did not have any trouble flying the SS. It was nice that the SS flew much slower than the sim plane. It gave lots of time to think, which is necessary for those first few flights when poles & trees seem much closer or farther away than they are. Flying a SS on a sim will give you an idea of how weird they can get in gusty, shifting winds. |
RE: rc simulator question
You can add wieght to a model perimeters in a sim.
No, a fast model will not help you for what you want to do. It will help you with reaction time which is helpful Probably add wieght, reduce power and reduce roll rates. Maybe a glider, climb then glide and makesure you have plenty of power during banking. The camera will effect the model as if you added floats. Not really sure how powerful you motor is. I had watched people fly electric models with marginal power. Too much AOA and slower speed not generating enough wind over the control surface . This will make the controls very sluggish and harder to fly than a faster model. Also whatever model you use to practice with, add slight down trim becuase the camera will cause drag and will probably want to piont the nose down. They get into trouble mostly during banking...becuase not keeping the model at level flight (climb during banking) and barley enough power to pull it through. The model bascailly just drops out of the sky becuase the wing stopped flying. I've read articles of how people took pamorama/equrectangular by mounting a camera to a kite. The pano looks pretty cool. |
RE: rc simulator question
Get Clearview RC. It is cheap and good for beginners. They have downloadable content. Their Slowstick, E-Starter, and Formosa are excellent.
Fly something similiar to a Slowstick on the sim. Three channel planes act different than others. Nice setup on the Slowstick. |
