Need fast computer for RC flight sims
 

Setting up a new computer just to run RC simulator software. I want to have real smooth sharp graphics.
What computer system should set for this. Graphics card, motherboard etc.
Or maybe a complete system that was made for highend gaming would be fast eanough.
I want something that will smoke. Anyone using some real fsat computer on their sims out there?
Dual Core etc.
Want to get some ideas for a fast system. I looking at Nivida cards for the video, Ive had good luck with them
in the past.
Im going to be running the Phoenix, AeroFly and also the Reflex sim.

I doubt it's the fastest but I can tell you there is no chopping when running a simulator :D (Reflex).

http://www.alienware.com/ They make some of the best complete systems that I know of. They are a division of dell that is dedicated to gaming. You can customize everything from performance to appearance. I have never seen one run a sim. But they should be able to run in with absolutely no problem. You may want to go to dell.com and look at the gaming computers they have there.

Charlie, where did you buy your parts for your system or did it come all together?
Sounds like a system I could use. What did it cost for the whole system?
I have 21" CRT sony monitors and one 27" SVHS monitor I could use also if the card has SVHS ouput.

I bought all my stuff from a place called [link=http://tddirect.ca/]tdDirect[/link] (BestDirect) up here in Canada and I put it all together myself (no monitor, I just bought that a couple of mouths ago). I think I paid around $700.00 bucks Canadian (it's been over a year now)

If you shop around in the USA I'm sure you can find all that stuff cheaper, the stuff I have come down a lot in price in the last year.

Looks like I can buy a complete system at a better price from them then buying each part and building it on newegg.com

Yes at one time it was cheaper to build your own system, now there is so much competition that it dosnt cost any more to buy a built system if you look in the right places. I cant suggest any as i am in the UK. My PC runs Realfight 4.5 and Aerofly Deluxe with no problems and no stutter at all at 1680x1050 but i think it would run just as well on a lesser system as i dont seem to be pushing my system at all.

Q6600 @ Stock 2.4Ghz
4GB Ram 667Mhz
Nvidia 8800GTX 768mb
Vista 32 Bit (Not using all ram with this 32bit version but not upgraded to 64bit as some of my software will not run)

Do you have a Fry's Electronics in your area?

They will always have the best prices on CPU/motherboard combos.

This weekend 1/9 they have the E8400 and ESC G31 MB on sale for $149 (newegg is $169 for the processor alone). The board is limited in some aspects, but they do work.

Also a much better video card is the ATI 4870 also available from Fry's for $189 After a $40 mail in rebate.

You should be able to pick up 4 Gigs of RAM for less than $40 from Newegg.

A case, DVD RW drive ($20 newegg), hard drive, Operating System (XP or Vista) and a power supply and you have a pretty kick butt computer. All-in you would be around $700 that will handle flight simulators with ease.

A Dell system with a worse video card (ATI 4850) would cost about $1200+. If you find the right sales you will always save money with a self built computer and usually get better components.
