will realflight work?

hi all,

I downloaded the G4.5 demo and it ran well on my computer. I was just wondering if you thought the full version would run ok with my specs.

Dell Inspiron e1405
1.8ghz core duo
1 GB ram
256 mb internal video card

Thanks!

RE: will realflight work?

The demo was created to answer that question.

Their idea was to provide a test tool for you. What you saw the demo do is what you should see the retail version do. Except of course, you'll be able to fly the planes with the InterLink controller.

Ok, thanks. Didn't know if the demo and retail were any different or not...you never know.

Thanks!!

The main issue with running RealFlight G4.5 is the Video Card installed into your computer. The Demo for G4.0 should give you a good idea about how it will also run G4.5 ... here's what KnifeEdge Software has to say about their different versions and the video cards required to run them:

ORIGINAL: KnifeEdge Software

Q. WHAT IS THE MINIMUM GRAPHICS CARD REQUIREMENT TO RUN REALFLIGHT?
A. RealFlight G3.5, G4, and G4.5 all require a graphics card that has 32 MB of video RAM and supports DirectX 9.0 and Shader Model 1.4. Practically speaking, G3.5 requires an ATI Radeon 7500 or NVIDIA GeForce 2 or better; G4 & G4.5 require an ATI Radeon 9500 or NVIDIA GeForce 4 Ti4200 or better.

Q. WHAT GRAPHICS CARDS DO YOU RECOMMEND?
A. Meeting the minimum requirement is not likely to result in a satisfactory experienceRealFlight will run, but at low quality and low frame rates. If your computer has an AGP slot for graphics cards, we recommend the ATI Radeon HD 3850 or NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS. If your computer has a PCI-e slot for graphics cards, we recommend the ATI Radeon HD 4850 or NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT. All of these graphics cards are available for less than $200. There are many other graphics cards available for less money than these; here at Knife Edge we use the GeForce 8800 GT, which is available for about $120.

Q. WILL A LAPTOP RUN REALFLIGHT?
A. Some laptops and desktop computers have an "integrated" graphics card. Integrated graphics cards do not meet the minimum requirement and are not supported. Some laptops come with a "discrete" graphics card; for these the usual minimum requirements apply. If you are buying a new laptop, we recommend the Radeon X1900 or GeForce 8400M GT or better. Be careful when buyingsome laptops have graphics cards marketed as GeForce or Radeon but are in fact integrated graphics cards. The computer's spec sheet should tell you whether a graphics card uses "shared" memory; a graphics card must not use shared memory to meet the minimum requirement.

Where did you find a G4.5 demo? All that is on the Realflight website is a G4 demo, a very, very different program.
I would love to get a G4.5 demo, please post link. Thanks.

yeah, I thought it was the G4.5 demo, but I was wrong, it was the G4. Sorry.

Anyways, I think I'm going to go with the Phoenix Sim anyways, seems more geared toward the whirly birds.

RE: will realflight work?

Hey everyone.  I have a cousin who is a computer guy who is cleaning up my desktop as we speak. I  will be upgrading my graphics card and would like some input if anyone knows.  Would the GeForce GTS 250 be sufficient?  I plan on running real flight on this computer and was hoping to have it finished by the weekend.
