What sim for laptop?
 

Can anyone suggest a sym that will run on a laptop with typical cpu graphics and memory power. An additional nice to have feature would be if it could use a real transmitter connected via a usb port or something like that. This will be used for new pilot training, not intermediate or advanced students.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

What are the specs of the Laptop? What price range? etc.

"Typical" is far too broad.

I agree, "Typical" is far too broad. for me, I'm running realflight g4 on my laptop but i have a fairly supped up laptop which is more of a media center type of computer... FMS should work on nearly any laptop though.

Not really.

FMS also has 3D requirements, and needs at least DX7 compatibility.

Many integrated display Netbooks and some laptops do not meet this level.

Many manufacturers gave little thought to 3D on laptops, as the most often heard comment from a buyer of laptops USED to be "I'll never play games on it.".

That is intresting. I assumed most laptops (at least newer ones) came with DX10

Arriving with DX10, merely means that the software is installed.

Most people confuse this with DX10 compliance, which is a completely different issue.

Most laptop integrated displays are NOT DX10 compliant at all!

This is one reason that most business laptops fare so poorly in Microsoft's own built-in ( but abysmal ) benchmark.
