rc simulation in xbox

is there a version of any rc flight simulator that has been ported to xbox ?? since the xbox controller has two analog controllers they can work well for simulating a transmitter.

I have never heard about one for "XBOX" but I have heard of the one for PS2....it's that "Helicopter Challenge"........It was in the "Worth A Closer Look" section in one of the issues of Model Aviation...I don't know if you saw that.....but there is one for PS2, I know that.

Thanks for the input will have a closer look... i just hoped someone would develop for the x-box since you have those two analogue control sticks on her.

Anyway I am looking into buying myself RealFlight does anyone have any experience with it, worth $200 ?

It depends on what you are going to use it for. I have G2 and it's ok and will serve well to teach you how to fly. If you know how to fly and want to better your skils in the stalled maneuvers, i.e. 3D then it's not worth the $200 and I would suggest you look into AFP. I bought it to replace G2 and am most pleased with it.

Ok, Im still newbie only flown on buddy box with my dad a few times, coordination aint bad but I certainly have alot to learn.
Are you thinking of selling your copy of G2 anytime?

Just like cummings66 said, if you want it just to kinda play around with and learn more maneuvers and stuff like that, then go for it. But in no way is it good for 3D like stuff........I say if you want to have good graphics, then get AFP (Aerofly Professional - only $149.99)....but if you don't have that much of a compuer, then you should consider the G2....Hope that helps...

I also have G2, but I like to have a good sim with reasonable "real physics" and also have good "eye candy" as one person has called it (good graphics in other words)

I have yet to this day to see any console game for anything aviation/simulation related that is worth buying. PC is the only way to go. If you are looking start with a freebie try FMS then work your way up.

I appreciate the comments,

I am certainly a beginner, hence G2 might be the way to go then, also I do not have equipment yet, thus the usb interface/radio from G2 would be a bonus for me.

One question though

I read on the "realplanes" website that their sim are not designed for notebook (laptop) computers, which is what i have, hence I thought I would list my specs here and you guys can tell me if I would be fine playing G2 in 3D mode.

Toshiba Satellite Pro Notebook
Processor: 1.8GHz P4
RAM: 768MB
GPU (Video Card): NVidia GeForce 420 GO (32MB)
2 USB ports
Monitor: 15" TFT
HD: 60GB

Please advise, the guy at my local hobbie shop told me he could get me G2 for $189 excl tax.

I would say first, that I wish that I could have got the G2 for that less.....I'm actually trying to seel mine.....How about you could buy mine......My ad is in the classifieds.....Only $180 with everything included.....

Looking at that laptop, that must be a pretty good one. Looking at, I think that you WILL HAPPILY be able to accompany a G2 (maybe mine) and just about anything else......WOW...60GB HD....that's impressive.......Tell me what you think about mine....??

$180 aint bad, but if I can get a brand new one for $189... come on. then anyone would rather shoot for that new one, unless you have a bunch of add-one packages or something.

Thanks for the offer though.

Yeah I know......there was a guy at the field (I went, but didn't have my batts. charged, so didn't bring Somethin' Extra....) but I found out that he was new and he wanted to go up (didn't schedule and appointment so didn't have "official" trainers out there; even though there's nothing "official" about it.).....but anyways...he was there and he wanted to fly.....and I knew that he might want a sim......because he JUST joind the club last week (I went Sat.)......But I was asking him if he wanted it......but he didn't really say anything......

I have sent the authors of FMS several emails asking them to let me port FMS to the Xbox and have never received a reply from them. If they would agree and give me the source I could probably have a version up and running with a few days work.

So then what is up with FMS guys, it's free right, hence I dont see why they would have a problem porting that to the x-box... unless they want to maintain complete source control. Have they ever thought about doing that themselves?

btw, I ended up ordering RF G2 last week, should have it by this Wednesday, cant wait!, excited like the school headboy at a prizegiving or the school headgirl at prom night! :)

Cheerio

I think FMS is extremely part time for the authors of it. Which I can't figure out why they wouldn't open source it and allow more motivated coders to work on it.

I have G2 and AFP and haven't touched FMS in a while and for that matter with it being 110 degrees here the sims keep me for going outside and flying my real planes :)

Sony has a very high standard to obtain a license for a PS2 game. FMS is a great program and the price is perfect, however by Sony's or XBOX's standards it's still pong.
