Default John Deere and Gunk "Thrust"

Besides John Deere and Gunk "Thrust" are there other diesel starter fluids that work in model compression ignition engines? In performance, how do they compare with pure ether? Do you have to use different fuel mix ratios when using ether alternatives?

Thanks

Default RE: John Deere and Gunk "Thrust"

\There are many brands of starting fluids avaiable in most autoparts stores even the automotive sections of supermarkets, they all contain
ether, and some sort of light oil or other volatile hydrocarbons john deer ( highest ether % is the best) they are not 100% ether but will work.Pure ether is now almost impossible to get even if can get it from
a chemical supply house it will cost you about $25 a pt CP (chemically pure for lab use)
since most diesel fuel is about 30% ether you will be spending big bucks . davis fuel is about $20 a gallon so it does not pay to make
your own, get it from davis or tower hobbies
If you live outside of the USA you will have to make it ( diesel fuel is also available in the UK) the poor Auusies are really out of luck
