Default Cheaper fuel vs. more expensive fuel?

I have been using Traxxas Top Fuel 20% in my Savage since the break in and I am just trying to figure out what makes other fuels more expensive than the Traxxas? I mean if the more expensive fuels allow me to lean out the motor whule keeping it cooler or something along those lines then by all means I will fork out the extra money to buy it. But is that true or what?

I am using Omega 15% airplane fuel in my T-Maxx and Firestorm, OS 18 and HPI G3.0 respectively. I have used this for several gallons now with absolutely no problems. I use no after run oils at all and the bearings have Zero rust (still shiny) And the fuel costs me $16.00 a gallon

I dont use truck fuel,as I only fly planes. I also make my own fuel now,and what I've learned is that big name fuels are in no way better then cheaper fuels. The just have to charge more for it I guess to cover the advertising price. In fact,if I were to buy fuel....I would buy a cheaper brand like wildcat, because I simply think its better then then some bigger name brands.

Most people wont ever notice a difference in different fuels, and they dont care much about oil/castor ratios or wether it even uses castor or not. But for us study it a bit more, its all a matter of personal preference and some of the bigger brands just done have what I'm looking for or in the right ratios.

I fly planes. Have used the most expensive stuff. Check my location. No names mentioned. And the least expensive stuff I could find. Can't tell any difference. Guess which one I use now.

One of the big differences in fuel is how they determine the amount of nitromethane to add to the mix. It's either by weight or by volume. Most mix by volume but I know of one well known brand that mixes by weight. The difference to the consumer is the actual amount of nitro you are getting. Our club did a comparison several years ago and found that fuel with nitro mixed by weight contains almost 10% less nitro than that which is mixed by volume. An underhanded way to boost the profits and dupe the unknowing modeler in my opinion. I use Wildcat exclusively.

the funny thing is that most brands do NOT mentions how the fuel is mixed. by volume or by weight.

Correct. The packaging will not say but some web sites do indicate such and those that don't I called. The one in particular that mixes by weight gave me a lame explaination that they can mix more accurately by weight.
