i have been reading a bit here abut mixing in some gasoline with glow fuel to save money and help warm things up in the winter. My question is, what about the fuel delivery compatability. i see that the manufacturer says the plastic tank is OKfor both but not the hoses. What about the stopper? Is there a material that is OK for both?<input type="hidden" id="gwProxy"></input><input type="hidden" id="jsProxy" onclick="jsCall();" />

Please do NOT ever mix gasoline and glow fuel, it is highly dangerous to do so. Glow fuels are either synthetic and/or castor oils, with methanol and usually some nitromethane. Gasoline should be used in gas engines designed to run gasoline. The old fuel mixing dinosaur.

Go over and read the threads in Engine Conversions. There are many folks mixing gasoline and glow fuel and having much success. While there IS an inherent danger when working with flammable liquids, there is NO danger involved beyond the fact that you ARE working with volatile/flammable fuels. Here are some other threads where Gas/Glow mixing is talked about.

There IS a LOT of Danger if you mix "things" which should not be mixed.
BUT here come some of the problemS:
# 1. Mixing Castor oil with some synthetic Oils like Fuchs Aerosave leads to early ignition time and thus VERY hot engine what ever cold Glow Plug you will use. I did it and then I found out that is Not to be done !!! Then I started adding more and more methanol and more Castor and till riching the ratio of 17% Castor, 3% Aerosave, 5% Nitro and rest Methanol and then finally with OS-A5 plug and double shim I managed to get the engine (OS.91FX) OK.
# 2. Many Dangerous fuel mixes are not discussed very much in order to not provoke the children fantazy of making explosives. One thing to WARN you: - Watch the Color of the fuel !!! - If turns BLUE, do NOT shake it especially if it is hot arround - you might be very near to Explosion of devastating Power. The nitro in use nowadays has a small ingradient which colors the fuel in BLUE when it is becoming UNSTABLE !!!. Even pure Nitro 99% is harmless because of the
1% of most likley Methanol-aike inside. Anyway, if you get your fuel BLUE, then add at least 2x methanol to it and dispose it on a open to the ground to be naturally absorbed, or better call Specialist to that for you. The Good Color of a "healthy" fuel is YELLOW. For more information on this you can get on the full size Dragster Car Races - those guys know very much(!!) about mixing fuels...they run all kind of super-power mixes, inlcuding ADDING Gasoline etc.
Stay Alive; you need it to fly your RC, do not make yourself flying...
Cheers,
Nick
