Default Magnum engine with synthetic oil.

Hi all

I have a Magnum 61 Four Stroke Engine. And would like to know if using Coolpower 15% fuel is ok.

The manual stated that it is not recommended to use fuel containing synthetic oil only. They reccommend a synth/castor mix. I have about a gallon of fuel through it now where I used Omega 10% to break it in according to the manual.

I have been using Coolpower 15% on all my engines, OS two strokes, Saito four strokes and my heli's for ages and I am very happy with that fuel. Not really keen on having to cart different types of fuel to the field everytime.

Would a fully synthetic fuel be ok for that engine?

If you are happy with it, why not. Oviously you are running it rich enough that it is not an issue in your other engines.
Just remember rich is good lean is bad and you should be fine . Others will probably chime in how bad Cool Power fuel is but if you are not having any issues with it then go for it.

You can put a little bit of Drug store castor oil in your Cool Power fuel and it will be OK.

Otherwise, your engine will be all for the worse on a lean run.

After run oil would be a good idea, synthetics don't protect bearings as well as castor between runs.

Coolpower is fine.

If its a ringed engine, it does not need lots of castor. Omega is also fine. There are people in the Uk running these engines in Modeltechnics Dynaglow (10% syn lube) with zero issues.

Will you need an after run oil, I don't know but the engines I see running on CoolPower don't seem to rust. Each to their own here.

Tune the engine correctly and it will serve you well.

In this area they call it Cruel Power I bought a gallon back 10 yrs ago and had to replace the bearings in every engine I ran it in.

A friend had Cool Power and put a couple onces of caster in each gallon. He seemed to get along just fine with the castor oil in the Cool Power.

Cool Power Four Stroke Blend has Castor oil in it already.
