add oil?
With most of the manufacturers reducing oil content, should we be adding oil?
Very few even offer fuel with 20% oil and one even makes claims that their fuel with 16% is the best??? If the fuel contains 18%, how much oil should I add to a gallon to get it to 20%? Thanks, Carl I was speaking of castor oil, and it is the proper grade. |

Thank you MrISIS, that was most helpful. I'll have to pass this site around to my friends.
Amazing after several yrs of searching the net for RC related sites and still to find sites that I never knew existed. Thanks, Carl |

The answer to your Question :
6 oz./gal is 5%...(or a 20:1 Ratio) 2 oz./gal will put you close to 20%. ;) |
add oil?
Assuming we're talking about percents by volume , the amount of oil to add to a gallon of 18% oil fuel to raise the oil content to 20% is 3.2 oz . If you want to caluculate it 'by hand', the formula is: Oz of oil to add to a gallon = ((Desired % - Orig. %) * 128)/(100%-Desired %) I built an excel spread sheet to this and several other fuel calculations (% by weight to % by volume, mixing two fuels together, etc.) Anyone who wants it can E-mail me and I'll send it to you.
