fuel left in tank

I was just wondering what most of you are doing with the fuel left in your tank at the end of the day. I've been putting it back into my fuel jug, but read on the Coolpower website that this will contaminate my fuel. I've been doing it for a while and think I have had problems with my fuel, but I'm not sure.

Jeff,

I've been doing for the past 25 years what you've been doing & have yet to have a problem. I have noticed at times some slight discolouration of the fuel that remains in the tank - this seems to be from carbon flecks that come via the muffler pressure line. But one thing I do however, is ALWAYS filter the fuel as I pump it back into my fuel can & filter it again when refilling the tank for each flying session.

They are just trying to sell you more fuel. If it was contaminated in your tank, would your engine run on it? What WOULD contaminate it in the tank? Nothing unless you put something besides fuel in it. I've been returning the unused fuel to the original container for 40 years. It has never casued any problems

Jeff,

I forgot to mention that I take my fuel to the field in 1 litre containers (1,000 mls or about about 28 fl oz). So in the event that any contamination enters my fuel container from any source that cannot be filtered out, the max. amount of fuel affected will only be 1 litre.
