Fuel for a RL53

Hi

I usually use Coolpower 15% in my OS heli engines. I am maidening a new heli with a TT Redline 53 this weekend and was wondering if that fuel will be ok. The manual wants 20 - 25% oil in the fuel and preferably a synth/castor mix.

Would my usual fuel be ok or should I rather try another blend closer to what the manual asks for?

First of all, I do not know much about helicopters, but I do know that almost all of the helo guys at all the clubs I know use 30% nitro in their glow 2-stroke engines

Hi

Well, nitro is not my main concern, I mainly do F3C type flying and light 3D when my thumbs have warmed up. So 30% nitro will do more damage to my wallet, than make my heli fly better :D

My concern is the oil content. Coolpower has 17- 18%. the Redline requires 25% oil for breakin and 20% thereafter (According to the manual) Preferably with some castor, but I am NOT keen using castor in my heli fuels

So I can either add some oil or use different fuel. My LHS has Morgan's LV and MV fuel that contains 22% oil. So I might use that.

I've seen Morgan's oil in the hobby shop both pink and blue/green

or if you are mixing your own, you can use Klotz synthetic racing oil, etc. Wildcat fuel is 18% synthetic, Byron is the same I believe. Obviously, I do not know what is available locally in Johannesburg, but oils could be ordered via Tower if that helps. Perhaps I am misunderstanding your question.

Hi

To put my question simply. How much oil does a Redline 53 need? It seems they need more than OS engines.

Can I use Coolpower that has 18% oil or do I need to up the oil content to 25% as stated in the manual. My LHS sells Morgan LV (low Viscosity) and MV (Multi Viscosity) fuel that contains 22% oil.

RappyPilot, what fuel did you go with on that RL53?
