The body is wide enough but the wheelbase is just a hair short for me to call it a glove fit. It fits fine and from what I am told it is orders of magnitude stronger than the stock Rampage body.

I pulled the stupid tuned pipe off of the Rampage and was able to get the body mounted much better. It looks a lot better now, save the extra holes for body mounts... [:@]

what pipe you going to use instead of the redcat one? and if you don't mind me asking what's the total $ you got into your V3 rampage to date...by my poor math it must be getting close to an artr V4 MCD by now[X(]

I went with a TGN X-Can. I have one on my 5T and am very happy with it. Hmmm... I am probably into it around $1,200 or so I guess.

would you recommend this as a first 1/5th? i wouldnt mind getting servos but all the other stuff. and how long did it take for u to get it? cuz im guessing that would be a good estimate for time to get parts

Traction is fine, but they are so large and heavy that they impact acceleration and make handling feel sluggish.

You don't need all of the other stuff. That is just optional stuff that I added prematurely because I wanted to. You definitely need a steering servo, that is not optional unfortunately.

When the Rampages are in stock (and I don't think they are in stock right now), they usually drop ship out of Redcat's HQ in AZ. So, you can see what UPS Ground delivery time is from AZ. There are a ton of Redcat resellers out there and some can disappoint you. Here are some things I learned about Redcat resellers. 1) They are all basically price fixed so they can't undercut one another 2) Some resellers offer different incentives (pipes, metal gears, spare body); get the metal gears- their stock tuned pipe sucks and the bodies cannot withstand a reasonable amount of abuse. Some are much more knowledgeable than others about Redcat products.

If I am being honest here (and I have no affiliation with any reseller at all), I would recommend using Rob @ Rampagehopups.com. He lives within driving distance of Redcat's factory and is very clear and honest about inventory and product challenges.

thanks dale. yeah my friend might get a used baja and i've been wanting a 1/5th forever and if he gets one ill have to. i know u stated in an earlier post, u couldnt see owning a baja after having this, but what about a used one. also can we see a running/bashing vid plz?

I have finally settled on my body of choice for the Rampage from here on out. The Proline Desert Rat for the Baja 5B. The only challenge is that it has been discontinued so I will have to pick a few of these up before they disappear. Fitment wasn't too challenging. The back mount took a little thought, but it's fine.

I have beat the tar out of this exact body on my 5T and have for a long time. The body is worn but far from worn out. This body has taken full rollover impacts from bad landings with the 5T with no more than a few scratches or flaked paint as a result. I didn't like the Desert Rat on the truck with the MT tires, but with the Proline Trenchers, it looks perfect to me.

Body fits like a glove. I am going to reinforce it under the body mounts with some lexan and try to spread the load out as much as possible. I will goop the corners with drywall tape and RTV and keep this body alive as long as possible. There are some good deals out there for this body, so I will pick a few up as soon as I recover from the holidays.

Thanks a lot! I am very happy with the Rampage at the moment. The change in wheels and tires made a big difference in performance.

I have a question , i went to my local hobby shop yesterday and they had this redcat rampage MT in the show room but it wasnt branded redcat rampage , he was calling it a MAVERICK , in fact the body shell was done in blue graphics and maverick was written on the front top windscreen , but the entire truck is exactly the same as the redcat rampage identical he wanted $1200 for it, he then said this was made by HPI ? BEHIND THE SCENES BY HPI ? , i gotta say this truck is HUGE bigger than the FG MT , i really want it lol but would i or would you sell off your FG MT to get this red cat rampage ?

yes thats exactly what it looked like . i went back today he must have sold it because it wasnt there anymore .

what do you know about this model is it a completely different company name or some clone of a clone ive never heard of . it looks good i feel like getting into more debt to buy it lol

HSP sell the rampage platform to half a dozen different brands...HPI Europe picked it up and called it the maverick...they don't manufacture it HSP do.

My Rampage and I are going to need relationship counseling at this point.

The truck has potential and I have seen it but I am pretty much sick of all of the issues the truck has. This culminated today when the truck broke a front turnbuckle after a light landing, excuse me, LIGHT LANDING. I just got out to the bash spot with a bunch of other guys excited to see the Rampage. After the turnbuckle broke, this is what I saw:



While the link LOOKS like stainless or a good steel on the outside, look at the inside. It is just cheap pot metal. I am not quite sure how this is manufactured... It looks like 2 materials- a cheap pot metal center and then an outer sleeve. I first thought that they just machine the cheap cast material into what you see, but it seems more likely to be a polished steel shell that gets filled with this cheap metal ala jelly donut. The turnbuckle cracked inside the upper a-arm, so hopefully I can fish it out.



Comparatively, I have driven my Baja 5T for 2 complete bash sessions now (2 hours) with 0 damage and 0 broken parts. After the Rampage broke, I had the 5T out taking some bad hits with barely a scratch to show.

So, let's step back and see here-

2.4GHz radio is junk. The on/off switch doesn't work and the servo reverse switches don't even work. Garbage.

Both steering servos blew out within 10 minutes of running.

The factory option tuned pipe dents if you look at it wrong.

The factory tune pipe MELTS the factory body.

The stock body cracked after a light rollover- not even off a jump, I am talking a rollover from quick turn.

The stock hardware is soft and strips easily.

The turnbuckles are made with cheap material.

The stock receiver box on/off switch broke.

The truck runs like a dog stock. Slow acceleration and unimpressive top speed. It can't even do donuts in loose dirt. The TGN X-Can and lighter wheels and tires helped a lot, but it still can't touch the power and acceleration of an HPI 5T.

I ordered some Titanium turnbuckles from Python Motorsports, but I am just about done with this truck now. If I don't get some good runtime after I replace these, I am throwing my hands up and raising the white flag.
